Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'
NewsMax.com ^ | Sept. 4, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

The lunatic left speaks again. Is she Howard Dean's sister? The Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana were unprepared. They failed to evacuate the city.

they had plenty of money to fix the levees with... but they were to busy building casinos and buying jet planes for the levee board to vacation in to use it for the levees.

And by the way, one of the levees that broke was brand new. And any levee they built would have only been rated for a cat 3 storm not a 5.

A national leader, senator, crying on TV, will reinforce the perception that a female isn't up to the top spot..running the country...and Blanco's total melt-down this week ads to that..Sorry Hillary.

Who says Hillary is a female, inquiring minds what to know

This constant threatening of the president coming from the left during this adminstration is so unprecedented and out of control, these people need to start being charged with crimes or when does it end? Level headed people know the answer to that question.

This lame excuse for a human being needs to ponder the depths of the meaning of "personal character". As she has none it will be an enlightening experience. Yet perhaps she is content to sling pathetic, self-indulgent sound bites over the bodies of the rotting dead in NOLA.

I'll tell you one thing: Seeing these women act like, well, little women is going to keep anyone with a lick of sense from voting for Hillary.

Behind the scenes, a power struggle emerged, as federal officials tried to wrest authority from Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco (D). Shortly before midnight Friday, the Bush administration sent her a proposed legal memorandum asking her to request a federal takeover of the evacuation of New Orleans, a source within the state's emergency operations center said Saturday.

The administration sought unified control over all local police and state National Guard units reporting to the governor. Louisiana officials rejected the request after talks throughout the night, concerned that such a move would be comparable to a federal declaration of martial law. Some officials in the state suspected a political motive behind the request. "Quite frankly, if they'd been able to pull off taking it away from the locals, they then could have blamed everything on the locals," said the source, who does not have the authority to speak publicly.

And she is defending the New Orleans police? The same police who either didn't show up or literally walked off the job?

And there are pictures of some of them actually particpating in the looting.

NO and LA was not only a geographical disater in waiting, but a textbook example of government corruption.

Not wanting to be sexist so it is only fair to point out that the mayor of New Orleans has busted out bawling several times during this crisis.

One of the jobs I had as a senior NCO was to keep an eye on my officers. One young captain, a fine man who I would follow in to battle to this day, had reached a breaking point due to stress and exhaustion. When I saw what was coming, I got him to a private place where he could lose it out of sight of the troops. He regained his composure and the rank and file still had the myth of the CO as an "iron man" to follow.

Perhaps some of these political types could use an old sergeant on the staff.

...

But the world will note that the constant criticism has been squarely directed at Bush the entire week while the liberal DNC'rs have remained in their suits, hundreds of miles away in air conditioned buildings. Senator "Mary" needs to get off her cross and get down on the front lines of the Relief sites instead of wasting precious time kavetching like a child whose lollipop is broken.

Cover your ass tears. Nagin and Blanco are to blame and she knows it, thus this RAT defensive mechanism:

From post # 151 from this thread:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1476911/posts?page=151#151

Piece of the puzzle #6 pointing to Nagin and Blanco as the real disasters and the blame for the tragedy:

1] Failed to learn lessons from Ivan

http://www.wwltv.com/local/stories/091904ccktWWLIvanFlaws.132602486.html

2] Failed to heed warning from President Bush's--the President ordered Blanco to evacuate before the storm hit.

#3] Failed to heed the Director of National Weather Ser., who called Nagin Sat night, shocked that Nagin failed to heed warnings and pleaded with him to get the evacuation starte

#4] Demographic info (and photots) proving that Nagin had more busses per person than your typical city (based on demographic data) and photos proving busses lined up in mass, drowned in water since Nagin failed to utilize them.

See posts #54 and #34 at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1476006/posts?page=54#54

#5] Welfare checks were set to be delivered arond the same time as Katrina was expected, a major reason why the people did not evacuate. Nagin failed to take this into account. He could have promised the people that they woudl be taken care of and urged them /FORCED THEM, to tleave the city.

Until TV or radio transcripts can be pulled showing Nagin pleading with people to evacuate, and until we see film footage of policemen forcibly moving people onto busses to get them out, we can't remove this blame from the local officials.

#6] And now this. Just think--Blanco just named Witt to head up another task force! Morons doing more moronic things.

Clearly, the blame falls on the Numnut Nagin and Bozo Blanco.

What major piece has been left off this list? Anybody?

END of post from other thread

"The difference between 9/11 and Katerina is that the first responders in 9/11 died for a cause, what did your 'girly girls' police do: QUIT AND RUN!"

Sure throws some yankee vs southerner stereotypes into disarray, doesn't it...

Mary Landrieu is fighting like a cornered rat, with her and her brother's political careers badly damaged. Most likely, both are going down when they next get within reach of the voters.
