Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'
NewsMax.com ^ | Sept. 4, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 09/04/2005 7:19:18 AM PDT by Carl/NewsMax

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

"Typical lib pap for the weak minded in America."

Some of the weak minded in America are buying into this BS that is being deficated by the media and political left. One woman, a 'friend', came spewing venemous epithets toward Bush, Chaney, Rumsfeld, Rice et al last night. Went on about how much better it all would be handled if a woman was in charge.

I took great pleasure in pointing out to her that a WOMAN was in charge in LA, as governor, and was botching it big time. Pointed out that Bush had to TELL her to order an evacuation, that she did late and reluctantly. ETC ETC ETC.

There are many others buying into this feces that is being spewed by the left. We all have a responsibility to counter it - and counter we can - with facts. Perhaps we should have a thread that puts facts together so that we could all have our factual "talking points" for these encounters with the weak minded, left fed, starving for truth Americans who could be better Americans if they could really learn factually.

Blanco is waaayyy out of her league. She just does not have the skills, the temperament, or the maturity to be the governor of a state. She just does not have what it takes to handle a situation like this.

Why isn't he being interviewed and propped up like Mary? Oh, wait. He's a Republican.

Vitter was being interviewed and propped up when he was initially saying that the Federal gov gets an "F". Now that he is saying things are much improved - they don't remember his name. The DNC operatives are all still quoting his first statements. I have put Vitter in the idiot column.

Mary took her que from Bill Clinton , no doubt about it.

In Syracuse, N.Y., former president Bill Clinton was discussing New Orleans's dilemma when someone described speaker Hastert's comments.(NO should be bulldozed) Had they been in the same place when the remarks were made, Clinton said, "I'm afraid I would have assaulted him."

HUH..... I had noticed the name of the Lt. Governor but, not being from that region, had just assumed it was a distant cousin or something.... wow, her brother in a key state office, and her FATHER was Mayor of NOLA in the '70s, directly in the wake of Betsy (1965) and Camille (1969). If these 'Rats insist upon playing their vicious blame games, it will be necessary to point out that none of the Landrieus in public office seem to have accomplished anything toward protecting NOLA and from this kind of catastrophe.... maybe Mary is a tad bit defensive, engaging in some PROJECTION....

I'm so sick of the blame- anybody- but- me, NOLA crybabies that I can't stand it anymore. Just what in the hell do they think their responsibility has been in securing this city for the last several generations????

I don't know about where anybody else lives but if we have an infrastructure need that must be met and the Feds don't pay for it we pay for...especially if the very life of our city depends on it.

Watching the able bodied young men lounging around waiting to rescued, hearing the reports of rape and robbery, looting and murder and the attacks on our National Guardsmen who are risking life and limb to help down there are disgusting enough. But hearing one Louisiana elected official after another From Breaux on down blame this mess on Bush just takes the cake! I say get everybody the hell out of town, bulldoze it and knock down the levees!

I'm not finding it on her website under press releases. I did find a letter from her to Bush, dated September 2, 2005, referring to supplies "previously requested":

an additional 40,000 troops; trailers of water, ice and food; commercial buses; base camps; staging areas; amphibious personnel carriers; deployable morgues; urban search and rescue teams; airlift; temporary housing; and communications systems. Even if these initial requests had been fully honored, these assets would not be sufficient to address our critical, immediate needs.

She doesn't post the letter or whatever it was making the "previous request."

Level 5 levees would cost 250 million I understand. New Orleans could have afforded that (over say five years), and the people of NO are the only people who should have been approached to pay it.

Given that 15/85 funding, a $250M project for levees would have cost New Orleans about 37.5M.

Afternoon B,
I believe this picture can be defined as "Shopping With the "NEW FUBU EMER REPARATIONS CARD."

P.S. anything can be charged on this card, in times of emergencies, disasters, riots, terrorist attacks and especially hurricanes.

I have an EMER CARD myself, just purchased two Flat Screen 42" TV's and loaded them up in my OldsMOSub, on loan from Dead Kennedy

What a loser!! She was there with Bush kissing him after he toured the disaster area with A-hole Nagin, Incompetent Blanco. I saw crocodile tears from Landrieu before kissing Bush- she's such a Judas!

Sounds like Cindy Sheehan's first visit with Dubya, the one that no one will admit ever happened (in the media)...to say I'm sick of the Left is redundant and helps nothing. To say what I really think would get me banned. I'll leave it at that. I will say, however, if something happens to our President, because of these leftist kooks, there will be major BITS.

I need clarification on this. The city of NO is saying that the Army Corps of Engineers are responsible for the levees, and the government cut funds to the ACE so they couldn't strengthen the levees. What is the true facts on this? Anybody?

"Level 5 levees would cost 250 million"

WOW, that is unreal (cheap, relatively speaking) -- can anyone confirm if that price tag is true??? Here I've been assuming that NOLA and the state did not get around to constructing Level 5 levees because it would cost billions and billions of dollars and they just couldn't bite the bullet and do it. But this is obscene -- if they really could have financed the levees that would have saved the city for the price of a bridge or a local expressway, etc. D---, cities and states finance projects in that range all the time, when it's something they want....

Of course, they will try to say the feds should have paid for it.... This really does appear to be a case of "we're going to do absolutely nothing for ourselves, we'll just keep waiting and hope the federal government will use tax money from all over the country to take care of our problems."

btw, if the 'Rats keep going with the blame game, it needs to be pointed out that Kennedy/Kerry and the Mass. delegation got $15 BILLION or so of federal money for the "Big Dig" massive highway project which had none of the essential life-saving characteristics of NOLA levees.... not to mention all the "Robert Byrd Memorial Outhouses" built all over WV with federal monies, etc. etc. etc.

We will have to fight fire with fire, because these 'Rats are trying to use this catastrophe to destroy the Republican party -- it's going to be a fight to the finish, and the FACTS are on our side....!!!

Actually I think he included the NO police in his praising of local agencies. I thought surely at the time he must be making a point for the ones who have stayed. Landreui is truly bonkers.
