This is an excellent response to the left and all their spin about the federal government's response to the hurricane.

It uses facts to debunk the major lies told by the left about this matter:

Only ONE positive response possible, and 3 negative choices.

A very great deal of information is yet to surface from the investigations into the Katrina disaster and the Federal response. The contrasts with 9/11 (which I lived through here in NYC) are most illustrative.

Unfortunately I fear that the frame may already have been set. Subtlety is not typically found in the understanding of masses of people. Well-supported facts which do not fit the frame will be disregarded or dismissed as urban myths spread by partisans. And the most transparent fabrications will be canonized as the true story of the "Days of Anger."

As a result, those of us who want a principled understanding of the situation so that the correct conclusions can be drawn and the correct decisions made, may find ourselves at a disadvantage in the months ahead.

While fighting the good fight as I speak with all my friends and acquaintances, I am (sadly) preparing myself for the possibility of some disastrously bad ideas being enacted into law.

The possible political fallout is very interesting of course, but that's for another day and another post.

I think the MSM, including Fox News, need to be put in charge of the next response to a major hurricane. Hell, they're there before it even happens and know exactly what went wrong this time!(/sarcasm)

Interesting to note that NBC, CBS, ABC, BBC, and PBS (public tv) have never shown the school buses and city vehicles sitting in water. At the very least, these could have been moved to high ground- they had a 3 day advance warning.

Fox is losing me with their weak coverage - repeatedly quoteing LEftist propaganda -

Just now - 9:30 am EST - they had some talking head reporter repeat the editorial views of the Times Picayune as "News".

Note to Fox - polliticially motivated editorial is not news, and repeating someone elses opinion is not news.

Just another Louisiana person trying to blame the feds for their own local failures.

Andf frankly if these people are as stupid as they appear I see no reason for federal money to be spent to rebuild their farce of a city. What garantee do I have they won't do the same thing next time?

Just now - 9:46 - "President Bush admitted himself the feds were slow to get in .." WTF is with the slant? Where is the thinking? Bush was not requested to get in -

Fox is losing me by the minute.

" The DU'ers are having a heyday with it."

Yep, DU'ers haven't lifted one finger to assist the relief effort except to hype anarchy and project their self loathing.

'Fair and balanced' suggestions for poll questions that won't see the light of day:

- What is your opinion of the Alabama state government's response to this crisis?
- What is your opinion of the Louisiana state government's response to this crisis?
- What is your opinion of the Mississippi state government's response to this crisis?
- What is your opinion of the New Orleans city government's response to this crisis?
- What is your opinion of the private sector's response to this crisis?

Yeah, that comment that President Bush admitted that they were slow just made me turn OFF the tv. I have always loved Fox but they have been slanting left for a while in the view that they are "fair and balanced" but I am sick of it. Bill Hemmer kind of turned me off too. WHY did they hire him?

It's amazing how the MSM, not excluding FOX, spends most of it's time attempting to portray President Bush as belonging to some subhuman species, and yet during tragic times, condemn him for not being God.

Has maturity and rationality become obslete?

HELLO! Are there any adults out there??????

One thing that surprised and disappointed me, was the fact
that there apparently was no plan to move in an
emergency communications network. I would have
thaought that would be a first priority, to set
up a network and co-ordinate commincations between
all the different agencies, and to set up a network
to link all the shelters together, and to a
"displaced Personsed" database. to aide in
co-ordinating victims, n terms of numbers, where
they lived, where they are, to provide benefits,
and to aid in disbursing ewnergency and insurance
funds.

I'm not knocking what they've done and ae doing, but it seems to me, that if you are going to prepare to
manage disaster area relief and repair, one should be prepared to move in with/establish, all basic systems
in a comprehansive network....coordinated communications
being essential...They should been able to drop in radio sets, to the NO Police, preset to link to a Plice coordination center...tied into databanks that can
coalate all info for the people making the security,
infrastructure repair & routing, and Humanitarian aid
supplies, logistics decisions.

]The city, topography, & enviornment, should be a
secondary level planning consideration. Whether
flood, fire, or man made disaster, there are
certain things that are required to deal with
re-esblishing a semi-normal & controlled situation.
Not all infrastructural systems may be damaged, in every disaster, but isn't the ability to temporarily
re-establish tham, till comprehensive solutions
can be mplemented, what FEMA is designed to do?

Perhaps my understanding of the situation is not
complete...

But it seems like the premise should be..."An
american city/Area, has suffered catastopic damage!...
What do we need to do to get in and out of the area?
Bring the destructive force under control? to move the populace to safety? and provide basic needs? What do
we need in the way of equpment to re-establish basic services? And have specific teams to do as much of
this, all at the same time.

My primary complaint with the administration is they were not prepared to deal with an incompetent Mayor and a worthless Governor.

There are more like these two clowns out there, and the Feds need to have contingency plans if disaster strikes such places.
