When the day again arrives when a democrat selects a SC justice, the Republicans will honor the president's choice and fall into line without complaint Maybe not after they way they have treated President Bush these past 5 years.

Not alot, the only difference I know of is the Chief can decided who gets to write the majority opinion, usually it is the most senior justice who does, but some time the Chief can overrule that and let one of the more junior justice do it. In Roe V Wade Chief Justice Berger who voted for Roe V Wade allowed his friend from Minn, I forget his name, to write the opinion in spite of the fact that he was a junior justice.

And they are idiots. Just looking at Roberts' demeanor and the way he deresses his children implies he's not another Souter. Just an observation.

Any predictions on how Hitlery will vote?
The way I see it , she's screwed either way.
She votes "nay" she is a left wing extremist.
She votes "yay" she is a weak flip-flopper with no allegiange to core Rat values.

Just has different Dem senators talking about the importance of NOT making an appointee to SCOTUS answer questions about cases that haven't been tried. Then has Ginsberg repeatedly (in different ways) saying she would not answer "that" question. Gives outcome of vote. Pro-confirming-Roberts. Saw it on Fox, of course.

Only time will tell if he's another Souter.
I would be more comfortable with a known commodity.
But, the President failed to consult me.

Hey, I'm watching Brit Hume and Fred Barnes -- it's 9:50 p.m. and they just showed the famous picture of the buses. Fred is wondering why the Mayor didn't use those buses and why he waited so long to issue the mandatory evacuation.
They're starting to talk sense about where the blame really lies.

Yeah, but they'll push for behind the scenes delays until the cows come home.

What the heck. I predict she will vote to confirm. Part of her move to the middle strategy. She gains nothing by voting against him because she already has the Roberts-haters in her back pocket. Sure they will be mad about a vote to confirm, but what are they going to do? Vote Republican?

I don't know about that. Republicans watched Thomas savaged by lies and allowed Ruth Buzzi and Breyer to effortlessly win confirmation. I don't see any new players with the take no prisoners attitude. The Republicans couldn't even muster enough votes in their own caucus to slap down the unprecedented filibusters mounted by the dangerous democrats.
Sorry, no signs of gonads yet.
To: Sgt_Schultze
You must not remember much about the Thomas confirmation hearings. When Anita Hill lied before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senate Republicans went after her with both barrels loaded. Arlen Specter caught her in a lie and publicly accused her of perjury. Indeed, liberals complained bitterly at the "treatment" Hill received. If the White House and Senate Republicans hadn't fought for him tooth and nail, he wouldn't have been confirmed.

The DUmmies are going to mad at a lot of their Senators hopefully.
