NEW ORLEANS People everywhere are trying to help reunite a young New Orleans boy with his dog, Snowball.
The story of the tearful boy torn from his dog while being shuttled to safety last week prompted an outpouring from around the country.
Volunteers have been scouring shelters, posting notes on the Internet and making phone calls. The head of the Louisiana S-P-C-A says "Everyone wants to know about Snowball."
A Florida woman was so distressed that she started a reward fund and set up a Web site to help reunite people with their lost pets.
There's a ray of hope. The United Animal Nations said yesterday that Snowball was safe, citing news from the state veterinarian's office. But there's some confusion as to whether it's the same dog.
Animal welfare agencies have been working to rescue hundreds of animals left behind in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Why didn't you link to the actual article? I hate it when people link only to the home page. Grrrrrrr!
It is sad because animals/pets in all their innocence have absolutely no understanding of what is happening.
Did anyone ever find out why George W Bush took away the poor child's dog?
I'm sure this little boy couldn't understand either. And in light of all the details, I don't understand. Rules shouldn't be allowed to trump common sense. Having that little doggie on the bus couldn't possibly have been more disruptive than having a hysterically crying and vomiting child on the bus. And at the end of the ride, there were animal rescue workers prepared to take pets to nearby shelters, so owners could be assured they were safe, and even visit them.
Incorrect, actually saving one dog will change the world for one little boy
This thread is not for discussions of your head
I swear I did??
I don't know why it didn't show up?
I know, I know, it just seems impossible that those standing by watching weren't moved by it
Good Lord.
I have said it before. Either I get out with my pets, or I just don't get out.
They are part of my family.
To: Arizona Carolyn; HairOfTheDog; MarMema; WolfstarI got an email just now from "Sheila" at Small Paws Rescue (a Bichon Frise rescue service based in Tulsa, Ok.) that Snowball has been positively identified at a Baton Rouge, LA., shelter, and is safe. They are now attempting to find the little boy.I thought that dog looked like a Bichon, and, sure enough, he was.

I fervently hope this is a true ending to this story and that the boy and his dog can be reunited! I am familiar with Small Paws so at least it is a real rescue group, and that part of the story is true.
The folks at Small Paws Rescue ROCK! If anyone could get this mission accomplished it would be that wonderful group of people!
HOORAY!!
See? 'Ol St. Francis is pulling for Snowball!

Is there a way you can find out from your find how the dog ended up there?
i just want to know what good person(s) made this happen.
God bless them!!
My Veterinarian husband has been busy all weekend working with the Vet associations to help out with supplies etc.
I have donated money and time and have been crying a lot this past week for all pets and owners in La, Ms, and Al.
