I have kept well away from most of the hurricane threads since the start Sanity Island is a welcome break from the terrible scenes and suffering we are seeing yet we still keep the people in our thoughts and prayers.

Hubby and I gave to World Vision. They are on the ground too. RC fired a Christian employee here in SD that declined to participate in a "celebration of the gay lifestyle".

They will not get my donation.

I thought she looked more tired than glazed I wonder how much sleep or more accurately quality sleep she or the President have had since the start of this disaster

So what's the deal with Hunter?

I think I'll have to change his name to Boomer because that is how he approaches everything! He slipped past me this morning as I was getting water for him and wanted to play with the cat. Cat was hysterical and spitting and I was trying to get him back outside. In the process, I think I broke my toe! It's all purple and red now (and throbbing).

I've never had a broken bone so it may just be a bruise. What a klutz I am. Must have been funny to see though! LOL

I love TLC and all the decorating shows. I always have such big plans to do things but never seem to put it into action.

Good evening, snugs. I haven't read many of the hurricane threads either. I even turn the channel when they show pets that were stranded. I just can't take that!

Yup - she is most likely tired.

Though I doubt she's a computer nerd at heart either. Rather she seems to be George's wife at heart - a much better deal if I do say so.

I've gotten a lot of ideas from these shows, especially on not being afraid to use bold colors...

The following commentary says it all . . .

CRUCIFYING GEORGE W.
September 6th, 2005
James Lewis

It is a painful thing to see a good and decent man slandered and abused. George W. Bush has been crucified in the media for five years, day after day. This week, after the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe of New Orleans, the media mob is screaming louder than ever. It is a gruesome thing to watch, made worse because we can see the impact on him as a person.

Unlike Ronald Reagan, who could turn away a hostile question with a light-hearted joke, Bush is a man who genuinely wants to be liked and yes, even trusted by his opponents. He has done everything in his power to change the tone of national politics, and at every turn he has been greeted with vicious personal slander. It obviously hurts. Not a glib speaker, it must be agonizing for him to face a baying mob of media types who hate him and everything he stands for. Anything he says will be turned against him. He can only take the slings and arrows, without responding in kind, and quietly go back to work.

I look around my house and see nothing but white walls. I did paint one bathroom a nice, soft, green. Those shows do make you think you can do anything. I would love to learn how to reupholster. My sofas are in good shape except for where the cats have clawed.

Great article, Deb. Maybe Bush should tune in to Rush and laugh at the libs. That keeps my bloodpressure down!

It is like a crucifixion.

It's one of the saddest things I've witnessed in my life.

Just had to reply quickly . . . our couches are getting scratched up and very dirty . . . I "reupholstered" two weeks ago with six flat single sheets, at the low, low price of $2.96 each. Just messed around with wrapping the cushions in them and draping them; one on each cushion and around that side of the arm, one across the back cushions (three sheets per couch; for fun, the cushions on one are blue and the back is yellow; reversed on the other couch). All tucked in good where possible and anchored with upholstery pins where able. Not perfect, but very cute and inexpensive!

Since the family likes it, when I have time I'm going to turn the couches over and nail the sheets into the bottom, and perhaps on inconspicuous places on the top, too to make it more permanent. The great thing is, I can take the sheets off to wash them when they get too much hair on them.

P.S. Hi mystery, snugs, ohioWfan, Dr. DEb, and everyone else!

there's a new article in breaking news. The NO mayor has authorized the use of force to remove people still in NO that refuse to leave.

A little late!
