Wednesday's funeral for Chief Justice William Rehnquist, a Protestant, will be in Washington's Roman Catholic cathedral -- an unusual but not forbidden occurrence under church rules.
The Catholic directory on interfaith matters says churches are "generally reserved for Catholic worship" but local bishops may permit worship by other Christians who lack a place "for celebrating worthily their religious ceremonies."

ELCA pays for abortions for any reason for those on its health plan.
The Lavender Mafia has been running the ELCA for quite a few years. The old LCA used to bemoan the facts that its members were GOP while the leadership was 100% Democrat-Left. Now people are leaving ELCA, especially those who were ALC. That part is good. ELCA will get even more radical from the departures.
Here in Houston I wish St. Thomas Episcopal Church which uses the 1928 Prayer book and the old Hymnal would opt out of the diocese and get with the AAC. I'd join up in a heartbeat.
I almost went catholic, but I'm afraid I've backed out. Can't see spending the next 26 weeks in RCIA when I already know the catechism.

The Catholic Cathedral in Washington, St. Matthew [the Tax-Collector] (no kidding), is much smaller than the National Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, an episco-pagan church, normally used for such purposes. It's also much smaller than the Catholic Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
This will further the flames of a secret right-wing Catholic cabal taking over the United States Supreme Court.

Catholics number psalms differently than Protestants. The numbering and versifying of scripture is not original to the holy scripture.
I wish I shared your optimism that the discontents are leaving. Oh, sure, some are and some will continue to leave but it is not a mass exodus. It's only drip, drip, drip. Most will never leave.
Protestants are notorious for abridging, editing and deleting Scripture many centuries after the Canon was closed, too. Most of them have no idea who incorporated chapter divisions or when that occurred either.
Not a mass exodus at all. Some lemmings stay for the funeral.
