Just reported on Britt Hume's show
FNC

Posted on 09/07/2005 3:30:30 PM PDT by carlr

Major Garrett is talking with Britt and reported that a Red Cross representative told him the LA state homeland security department refused them permission to take food and water to the Superdome because they did`nt want to encourage people to go there.
They wanted to get people out and were afraid that providing support would be a "magnet" atttracting more displaced persons.

To paraphrase, the state was looking to discourage people through hardship out of the Superdome. All the aid in the world wouldnt have gotten through.

Welcome to FR!

And now, Major Garret is on Shep's show, repeating that the Red Cross was kept out of NO.

Just heard from the rep for Red Cross on FOX she said they were ready the minute the storm passed and were not allowed to deliver the aid because the STATE OF LOUISIANA would not let them

"Probably could have if the State of Louisiana would have just let them in."

Brown didn't sound too good when he showed he didn't know about the survivors at the Convention Center.

"Was the money allocated, and then diverted?"

This is my suspicion only: It looks as though there was a concentrated effort to keep city money from being spent. They were waiting for the Federal spigot to be turned on. Then there would be no more need for city money and, in the confusion, would then slip out of sight and into big easy pockets. Just a suspicion knowing that buses did not roll causing drivers to be paid and fuel costs to be made. Just a suspicion.

"Roger was asking him about their co-ordination with the Red Cross. He hesitated enough in his answer to make me wonder what the real story was"

Red Cross probably blew them off. They're no angels.

Demonrats like Hittlery would be well advised to cease and desist the blame flame lest they get their fannies in a ringer.

Spot on. The MSM and Rats have done a much better job this time around keeping the country from coming together and acting with a purpose. But, it's President Bush that is divisive(attempting to impart the whinny nasal tone of a Rat)

I just looked on Fox's website. I couldn't find one. Maybe later on one will show up?

This selfish PR seeking governor is not sure she's going to issue a mandatory evacuation.

This woman ran for governor on a feel good platform and the voters of Louisiana chose emotions over common sense.

Misinformation

Part of the New Homeland Security contract (federal govt) with the states keeps Red Cross out of disaster areas. They are only allowed in after the area is no longer a disaster as their presence could keep people from evacuating. That's the national policy. That might look good on paper but since the evacuation locations were still inside NOLA (convention center, superdome, highways) Red Cross was not allowed to help these people. Red Cross was also not allowed to help
inside the hospitals. This policy works with all relief efforts (Salvation Army, ect). You can call the Red Cross and confirm: Red Cross National Affairs number (202-303-5551).

Yeah, that's the ticket...Blanco and Nagin didn't allow supply deliveries to the Superdome because they were concerned about price gouging...quick, get out the talking points.

Blanco and Nagin: Put them in "the hull of the ship" and let them eat caca.

Mike, some big corporation (or the military) should seek that kid out. With the proper education he could be a real leader someday. That kind of initiative is rare.

If there's anyone out there with a view to the future, they'll get someone down to that shelter and take that kid under their wing.

You'd be going up the ACLU cause all the passengers offered prayers of thanks after arriving safely.
