Just got back from viewing "The Flight That Fought Back" (Disc. channel, 9/11, 9:00pm EDT)
Discovery Channel ^

Posted on 09/07/2005 7:45:33 PM PDT by chris_in_nj

There was a special viewing for family members of the victims of Flight 93 tonight....wanted to share this with the good folks from this site.

Well hopefully this will put to rest the garbage that all of the conspiracy theorists try to spew. I just saw the documentary and will try to be coherent and put some thoughts down. I'm pretty emotional now so please pardon any lack of logical order....its not a priortity.

But so many of you from this site have been so kind in your words for my father and my family that I just wanted to share this with you.....well here it is.

While my family did not directly take part in the interviews I think they did a great job telling the story from about 7-8 families' views due to phone calls...there were more calls than the 4 that you've probably heard of already - Beamer, Bingham, Burnett and Glick. My blood boils every time I hear the voices of the hijackers...and you'll get to hear them now. While the Zaccariaus Maoussoui case is still ongoing they cant let everything be heard but they do reveal some things.

When I heard the cockpit voice recorder tapes a few years ago in Princeton I very vividly remember hearing a woman flight attendant pleading for her life and it ending rather abruptly...it was truly horrifying and I could not sleep a wink that night thinking of that poor woman. They now believe it was Deborah Welsh...oh man, hearing it live was terrible. They don't play the tapes like we heard them but you get the idea and they narrate it a bit...awful.

Mickey Rothenberg was also believed to be the one who's throat was slit in first class to establish control and send the message to other passengers that their lives would be in danger if they fought back....this too was tough to see...just imagine what his family is feeling tonight.

Capt. Jason Dahl and Co-pilot Leroy Homer were also most likely killed by having their throats slit.....and people in this country want us to negotiate with these animals....wake up morons.

Bottom line...I highly recommend seeing this at 9pm on 9/11 on the Discovery Channel. It should be required viewing for every school age child from 6th grade up so they understand the dangerous world in which we live and WHY WE FIGHT.

I commend the Discovery Channel on a job well done and hope this helps echo the message....NEVER FORGET.

My father died in the first few minutes of this war. He loved this country and his body was slammed into the ground at 580 mph, shredded into pieces and incinerated in ignited jet fuel. Simply because he wanted to go for a hike in Yosemite park with his friends. Barbaric.

This Saturday there will be a walk in his honor - the 4th year this has been done. Last year we had over 600 people come out. All proceeds will be going to the memorial to be built in Shanksville, PA and the memorial in Atlantic Highlands for all of those killed who lived in Monmouth County, NJ. If anyone can make it it is at 10am at Battleground Park in Manalapan, NJ.

www.walkwithjoe.com

Would love to see some of you there - but I know I'm late in the game in putting this up. If you could find a few dollars to donate that would be appreciated as well. Not asking for much - but anything would help.

God Bless You All!!!

Chris -

My families prayers are with your family as the anniversary of the terrible day approaches. You are right, this is WHY WE FIGHT, and why we must never lose our resolve in seeing this through to the end.

Many families have sacrificed more then the average American due to this war. We owe them, and all those who currently carry out the mission, our support and gratitude.

I will never forget, nor will my wife and children, what has been done to our nation and what is required to overcome the hatred and evil our enemies wish to perpetrate upon us.

God Bless.

Chris, thank you for posting this. You and your family have my condolences and prayers. I can't make it to the walk this year due to transportation difficulties, but I intend to get there next year. I will pass your review along via e-mail to some of my friends who may miss this thread.

My father was a resident of Monmouth County...Manalapan Township to be exact. There were almost 800 people killed on 9/11 that were NJ residents and Monmouth, I believe, was the county with the most victims(147 killed).

The monument is being built in Atlantic Highlands which is the highest point on the eastern seaboard and has a view of NYC across Raritan Bay...beautiful.

Thanks Coop!

I took my in-laws from Buffalo to see the U. S. Capitol
this past Memorial Day...it was the top item on their "to do " list. It stands majestically today due to the sacrifice of yours and others.
Thank You.

Chris: I looked at planned Atlantic Highlands Memorial.

The symbol of the Eagle rising up from a WTC beam reminds me of this:

Isaiah 40:31
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint."

Ever since 9-22-01, I wanted to go to Shanksville to say 'thanks you' to the passengers of Flight 93.

Last October I was finally able make the pilgrimage and like others who have been there....I shall always cherish the memory of that sacred ground where they rest. It was an emotional experience that still evokes tears, gratitude and pride.

WE will always remember September 11 and honor the heroes of Flight 93.

I am very sorry for the loss of your father, but he and the other passengers did save countless innocent lives and die as heroes. God bless them all and their grieving families, and may you have tremendous participation in your walk.

Well said. My God hold them dear and hope your walk is the best.

Chris, on that dark day, your dad, and all his other fellow Brave American Patriots aboard that airship, set the standards of excellence for the rest of us in the War on Terror.

They fought for their freedom and for our freedom from tyranny, and we are truly grateful. They took charge and discarded the "authority" view to submit to hijackers, and they determined that this threat needed to be met with strong, powerful, immediate and unyielding leadership, and they provided it.

Their selfless act of supreme bravery was the shining light of hope for the rest of us that day. A hope that all was not lost, that we could win if we fought back, and that our destiny was still in our hands. Your dad helped save many lives that day, and while doing so, gave all of us that glimmer of hope for the future.

Coop, thanks for the ping. Before I opened up FR tonight, I was unwrapping a large flag and pole I bought expressly for my own kind of memorial - I am planning to stand on the town green and wave that flag all alone.

Maybe the people driving by will not automatically think "boy, look at that nut", but wish they could pull over and join me.

I knew people killed that day in the towers and others who just happened not to be there. I know one survivor who made it down the stairs. I wish I could have been there myself to help. I will never forget, and like you all, never forgive.
