Anybody see this? Lauer and Couric each tried repeatedly to focus on the NEGATIVE while interviewing Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and New Orleans Police Chief, but both responded POSITIVELY. It's as if they suddenly woke up and realized that the mainstream press has been trashing them for the entire week and making them and their city look like complete failures, and now they've decided they are not going to put up with it anymore.
Barbour has been "awake" from day one. New Orleans (and Louisiana), on the other hand...
ABC is reporting it, at least on their website.
They not only mentioned it, but they had an ex-FEMA director on to to get into the finer points of what FEMA is allowed to do.
Go to their home page. It's on their web page.
Many Freepers have known that the Red Cross was prohibited from providing water and food to the city; the info was posted as an FAQ on the Red Cross website since at least the weekend. What was completely stunning, to me at least, was the prohibition against providing relief in the form of water, ice and food to the city in general, also included the three sites that contained the most refugees and that were the focus of the press (SD, convention center and the elevated I-10 area). If indeed the charges that the relief was there, only 4-5 miles away, and ready to go but stopped by the state, as part of a general prohibition order, then national FEMA is harmless in that in had no authority to provide relief as the state was in charge.
It is also notable that the NG now has a gag order preventing them from commenting on the timeline--according to a Fox report yesterday, I believe on Brit Hume's show.
Snooze... ;>)
Katie Couric needs a good spanking.
That is a misuse of the word "nagin". The proper definition is "1 v. To fork up beyond belief. 2 n. An utter incompetent." As in "Man did you Nagin that job now I have to get someone who knows his ass from his elbow to straighten it out." Or "You really pulled a Nagin driving the wrong way down that one way street."
Poor KC.....I bet she starts to wear black again.
Would that be the LA National Guard, under the "leadership" of LA Gov Blanco?
LOL! Barbour's answer was not on her script!
Pulled a Nagin = v. Throwing gas ON to a fire. i.e. evacuating people form a major metro area a week or more after a devastating storm leaves the area.
The Houston Chronicle has an excellent article outlining the failures of Local New Orlan's and Louisiana politicians during Hurricane Katrina. It even includes a picture of the unused buses. You may find the article here: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/special/05/katrina/3344347
The so-called New Media has done it again. Can't the MSM get a clue that with modern telecommunications technologies the MSM can be fact-checked at lightning-fast speeds?
If the Houston Chronicle is covering this, Nagin and Blanco should be very concerned.
Katrina is another "Dan Rather" nail in the LSM coffin. They keep trotting out the images they want to use to say "Bush failed" while too many Americans know they either won't interview the LA Governor or will throw her softballs. The gig is up on them.
That sounds illegal. This isn't a court case, what the F "gag order" can be issued? Just D*mn.
