Major Garrett new blockbuster----Salvation Army efforts at supplying the evacuees BLOCKED.
Hugh Hewitt ^ | Sept 8 2005 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 09/08/2005 4:42:37 PM PDT by Dog

The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.

I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.

I'm starting to think evil thoughts about this. I know it's nuts, but...

What I wonder, do you think the Republicans know all this? I'm sure they aren't watching Fox News. Should we be calling them?

Come on, FNC. Do not drop the ball on this

My guess is that the WH knows the whole story but is camly saying "now is not the time for the blame game" so that when the truth does come out they can say "This isn't a partisan ploy... if it were partisan, we would have been running with it from the first day like the people on the other side of the aisle did. Our focus was on helping the victims first."

Miss Marple - do you think the Republicans in Congress know a lot of this stuff? And if you/we think they don't, should we start calling them?

Pittsburgh Post Gazette is a 'top dog' "rat" paper--don't believe a damn thing it prints--of course, Pittsburgh is basically a 'rat' city so it is to be expected--after all, that is their audience

Yes ... I do believe they were waiting for an opportunity to jump on a tragic event like this to hammer him

They are so desperate for an impeachment, I do believe they would use those poor folks down in NOLA to go after Bush

The desperation explains the outrageous comments from the Top Dem Leadership

It's so bad that I've notice a few dem talking heads backing off and not wanting to touch this

Plus, I also believe the Officials in NOLA are in so much trouble .. they are pulling in big time favors to cover their rear ends

And the Rats used the most helpless members of society to try and smear the President.

That's a new one from their playbook . . . NOT!

They went to the Michael Moore school of journalism:
Tell a lie enough times until it sounds like the truth.
If a story doesn't sink your enemy, embellish as necessary.
Not enough public outrage? .... use race card.
If all else fails, remember to bring up the war in Iraq.
Demonize the military or refer to them as children who have been sent to fight a war for oil/Haliburton.... whichever is most effective.

What's everyone so upset about? Honestly. There's lots of negligence on every level here...

This goes way beyond negligence, I'm afraid.

I agree...wimpy, wimpy. wimpy. They let the Dems undermine the war 24/7 for two years now. It started with a trickle and has grown to a tidal wave. Calling them traitors from the git-go would have nipped it in the bud. Every hour in Iraq is more dangerous for troops due to the bunker mentality.

Same with the Plame affair.

Even if Bush had somehow transported every last person to a luxury resort and filled their bank accounts with $25 million each, it wouldn't matter. The press will tell the sheeple that he did a lousy job, the press will run its polls and ratings and it will still seem as if Bush did a lousy job. The truth simply is no longer relevant when it comes to popular opinion.

Blanco will probably wind up being Secretary of Defense under Hillary and we'll all get nailed by terrorists... and it'll still be blamed on the Republicans. I'm afraid we're going to have to hit "bottom" before anyone realizes what's been going on.

Memo to self, throw you outta of the foxhole, because as bullits are flying all around you'll be there doing nothing but complaining. BTW, say hi to hillary at the DNC basement.

Grow up. I worked for the president in 2000 and 2004, but I don't need to prove anything to you. If YOU can't see the media circling around then keep your eyes shut. But don't accuse me of being in the DNC because I don't see sunshine and lollipops all around.

... he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.

CNN revealed it when Larry King interviewed Red Cross president.

Ann Rodgers of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette persits, to this day, in the opinion that the Feds were the ones who kept the Red Cross out. Her article appeared SEptember 3rd, and she's been getting hammered on issuing a correction.

Due to e-mails such as yours I called the Red Cross again to make sure I had not misunderstood them in our conversations about Homeland Security and FEMA. (The F stands for Federal). They said my story was not in error. As when I was working on the story last week, the media offices of Homeland Security and FEMA have not returned my phone calls. This is the case even though I explained today that I was calling because I was concerned that I might have printed something about them that was erroneous. The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security and and Emergency Preparedness is currently impossible to reach because whatever phone lines are working down there are overwhelmed. If the story is in error I will be more than happy to write a correction, but the Red Cross stands by what it originally told me. Sincerely, Ann
