Major Garrett new blockbuster----Salvation Army efforts at supplying the evacuees BLOCKED.
Hugh Hewitt ^ | Sept 8 2005 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 09/08/2005 4:42:37 PM PDT by Dog

The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.

I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.

I'd bet the dems have more contingency plans to force the impeachemnt of the president than they do plans for real emergencies.

both the Salvation Army and the Red Cross were told to stay out by the Homeland Security Dept. of the State of Louisiana.

. . . which reports directly to the governor of Louisiana, and in the words of Madam Blanco, "that would be me."

(I'm giggling here.)

Local and state officials in Louisiana did not want to deal with stranded people in the city. As you can see by their evacuation plan, they wanted people to flee the city, period. They probably needed this desperately in order to cover the fact that graft and corruption had depleted their resourses.

So, as Gov Blanco has herself admitted, they did not allow any more food, water or supplies in after people were flowing into the Super Dome. Remember her cutesy statement during the evacuation that those coming to the dome must pretend they are camping out and bring their own supplies.

I hope she hangs for this as blood is on her hands.

Mike, Mike, look! They also kept the Salvation Army out!!!

By golly, Jamal Simmons is on now STILL saying that the Feds let those people wait for four days, and O'Reilly is not going after him like he should. Some "no-spin" zone!

I am CONVINCED this was a plan to make Bush look bad, NOT mere incompetence. And the Rats used the most helpless members of society to try and smear the President.

He thinks Blanco intentionally created the pandemonium in NO in order to either blame it on Bush or to force Bush to federalize the troops, at which time all the Dems would be screaming that he superceded the state's rights and calling for his impeachment.

Accusing Blanco of intending anything more complex than diverting responsibility from herself is overestimating her, in my opinion.

"The real question is this: Why did they need to buy time?"

This will undoubtedly come out in the investigation the Dems are trying their utmost to derail.

Once the extent of the cupidity of the Dems is fully revealed (before next year's elections, we hope) they'll have a tough time being more than a ghost party.

Or to paraphrase Hank Williams: "Move over old Whig, there's a new Whig movin' in."

"If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd start believing that the state really did want those people dead.

This is making me become a conspiracy theorist. Everything seems to go back to Gov Blanco. I'm starting to think that she saw an opportunity for her party to go after President Bush and she jumped on it. No matter how many people died.

What I'm wondering now is, who else is involved?

Ok, I'll take off my tinfoil hat now.

Someone was trying to line their pockets with something. That's to be sure.

Well, they just got 52 BILLION dollars. And got to kick George Bush at the same time.

All it took was blocking all aid and security (don't forget about them) from going to a few thousand poor black people, and whining about it for a week.

Pretty good scam, if you can pull it off.

I made the mistake of getting into an email debate about this issue with the fool at "raw story". He said that Fox News was not a reliable news source, the Red Cross FAQ didn't prove anything and of course that I probably didn't make it past 8th grade.

Gotta love those Liberals.
