Will Somebody Say Thank You? (Michael Reagan)
NewsMax ^ | Sept. 8, 2005 | Michael Reagan

Will Somebody Say Thank You? Turn on TV, read the local newspaper or listen to your local radio station, and all you are going to hear, see and read are accounts of people knee-deep in playing the blame game. What you don't hear is anybody saying "thank you." From the safety of France, Pierce Brosnan took the time to tell the world: "This man called President Bush has a lot to answer for. I don't know if this man is really taking care of America. This government has been shameful." Instead of lifting a finger to help Katrina's victims, this was the make-believe 007's response to the tragedy.

Hollywood celebrity Sean Penn raced to New Orleans with his leaky boat in what became a Keystone Kops effort to rescue flood-stranded victims. He failed, but the cameras were there to record for posterity his gallantry in coming to their aid. Having lost that photo op, he launched into his usual leftist rhetoric to castigate the president, accusing the administration of criminal negligence, while his boat's engine sputtered to a stop.

At a Labor Day rally, with his AFL-CIO union collapsing all around him, John Sweeney assured his members that what he alleged was the government's slow response was a sign of hostility to workers. No kidding, he actually said that.

Can you just picture George Bush waking up in the morning and saying to Laura: "The hell with those workers. We're not going to send help to New Orleans because we hate ‘em." As these bozos were collectively venting their liberal spleen at the president, huge caravans of trucks carrying thousands of tons of food and water and clothing and other vital supplies were pouring into New Orleans from as far away as California and New York. Army and National Guard troops were arriving by the thousands, all sent under orders from the president. Did it occur to any of his critics to take a moment out to say "thank you" to George Bush?

Harry Connick Jr., a native resident of New Orleans, was there, but unlike his fellow celebrities he wasn't spending his time making political speeches. Instead, he was in his boat - which didn't leak - surrounded by toxic water and rescuing those mostly black folks trapped by the flood. Has anybody said "thank you" to Harry Connick Jr.?

From almost the moment the 17th Street dike broke, members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have been laboring day and night to repair the breech and stop any more of the lake waters from gushing into the streets of New Orleans – a job they have now completed. Has anybody said "thank you" to these dedicated and weary men? Not that I've heard.

All across the nation the left-wing wackos are squinting to find something they can complain about and blame on the president for alleged failures in the massive federal effort to cope with the worst natural disaster in American history. They can't bring themselves to admit that a lot of good things are being done by the federal government and the horde of good people who are pitching in to help their fellow Americans. If they did they might have to say "thank you," a phrase they don't seem to have in their vocabularies.

When my wife asks me to vacuum the house, I inevitably miss a spot. She doesn't jump all over me because I messed up, but, understanding what klutzes husbands are when it comes to domestic chores, she simply thanks me.

These liberal scoundrels don't have it in them to thank those police, firemen, National Guardsmen, regular army soldiers, relief workers from FEMA and the Red Cross and all the others and the people in the Bush administration whose efforts are above and far beyond the call of duty.

They are too busy looking for the motes in the administration's eyes to see the huge planks in their own.

All together now, let's hear it: "Thank you President Bush, thank you Harry Connick Jr., thank you police and firemen and National Guardsmen and members of the Red Cross and Salvation Army and all you other heroes."

I'll say it.

Thank you, President Bush, for doing what the mayor of New Orleans and the governor of Louisiana wouldn't or couldn't. Thank you, every last one of you who helped rescue those caught in the flood. Thank you Red Cross and Salvation Army for trying to help, even though the locals wouldn't allow it.

But for the media, all I have to say is:

bpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpttttttt!

(also known as the "Bronx cheer")

I've heard many of the victims on TV say thank you.

AFL-CIO union ...John Sweeney assured his members that what he alleged was the government's slow response was a sign of hostility to workers. No kidding, he actually said that.

LOLOLOL! Workers in N.O.? What workers?

There are two MDs of national prominence in the pollitics, Bill Frist (R, TN), the Senate Majority Leader, and Howard Dean, the DNC Chairman. Dr. Frist went to NO to give medical care to Katrina's victims, black and white alike. Dr. Dean stayed in Washington and smeared the people, like Dr. Frist, who were trying to help.

THANK YOU, left wing for proving to all of us how corrupt and stupidly inept you all are!

There. I said it.

Thanks Michael!

Last week, I tried to post this 2004 election map of the United States, but the moderators deleted all references to it.

One week later, I still stand by this factual information, but my basic warning has been proved correct.

I agree. Even the "victims" are coming off as ingrates.
The lady on O'Reilly that complained she had no food for 5 days. O'Reilly get out of her that she had plenty of MRE's but no HOT FOOD, and Bush was to Blame.

The passengers that upon hearing they were being evacuated to Utah demanded to be let off and complained about Utah being a racist state.

Maybe it's the media only showing the ingrates but I doubt it. Has anyone witnessed one survivor that thanked their rescuers? It seems they jump off the rescue helicopter and jump in front of a camera to complain.

A woman called into a local Atlanta radio show this afternoon relating to all that she was at a high end mall in Buckhead Georgia and a "hurricane victim" whipped out her RED CROSS debit card and bought a Louis Vitton handbag.

I honestly believe these people have been through hell and back but it wouldn't kill anyone to express some gratitude.

Thank you President Bush, all the military units, firemen, policemen, and concerned citizens who volunteered to help their fellow men. Thank you, Michael Reagan, for speaking for me. Thank you, nascaryankee, for posting this.

And more Bronx cheers to the inept politicians, publicity-seeking entertainers, and the snake-in-the-grass news media who perpetuate the ability of these socialists to further spread lies to those who hang on their every word as the truth.

I pray common decency will return to the politics in our country before it is totally destroyed.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Thank you Mr. President for caring enough to save lives in Louisiana."
In spite of all the opposition, you did what you had to do.

Add to the list thanks to:

Churches
Synagogues
Volunteer Americans of all creeds, colors, and political parties who have donated food, money shelter and time to helping the victims.

As to celebrities, didn't John Travolta and his wife donate tons of food without fanfare. I think he even flew in the plane himself. Thank God, Sean Penn wasn't his copilot!

Mike Reagan has such incredible class.

Sine not consider him "really the son" of Ronald Reagan because he was adopted. But as best I can see, he is the one carrying on his father's legacy.

This is the type of man who should be leading our country in the future.

Thanks President Bush, National Guard, the rest of the Military that helped, FEMA, The Red Cross, The Salvation Army and all the hundreds of other big and little charities, all the thousands of people who volunteered their time and gave money, the Iraqi soldiers who gave the Katrina victims money today in appreciation for all the U.S. has done for them, all the countries that gave, the list goes on and on and on. Thanks to all those who helped and donated and volunteered with no political agenda attached. Thank you, Michael Reagan for this important reminder.

I have been thinking the same thing throughout this whole ordeal. I don't wish bad on anybody and I pray for the victims of this natural catastrophe. But the truth is having Al Gore in the White House on 9/11/2001, or having John Kerry in the White House on 8/29/2005, would not have changed anything.

Al Gore would not have had the stomach to go after our enemies after 911. It takes courage to be President and George Bush has the courage to hunt down our enemies and to take them out.

John Kerry maybe would have invoked the wisdom of his wife Therese to "let the children run around naked, it would do them good".

Humble, love this map. What's the original source? Do you have a link? Turns out we're not as divided as people say we are, huh?
