Rush is about to discuss her remarks in the next segment. Wanted to add the ping.
[The following is just my 2 Cents]
Yesterday was no ordinary day. It was the fourth anniversary of 9-11-01. A day for reverence. A day to ponder infamy. A day to remember the victims families. And a day to honor America's heroes.
Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu made an outrageous remark on the fourth anniversary date of 9-11-01. I AX this question: did she insult 9-11-01 heroes on the fourth anniversary of 9-11-01?
Yesterday, Sunday, she said, "Mayor Nagin and most mayors in this country have a hard time getting their people to work on a sunny day, let alone getting them out of the city in front of a hurricane."
What an insult to government workers, the bulk of America's remaining unions, and one of the strongest bases of the democrat party. What an insult to all the heroic government workers in the city of New York, many of whom are [or were] 9-11 heroes.
I AX you: what do other senators think? Does Hillary agree with her, for example? Does Hillary think that the government workers in New York, for example, deserve that venomous insult? What about Chuckie Schumer? Does he agree? And Lousyburg from New Jersey, for that matter? AND SHOULD THE SENATE CONDEMN HER?

I heard the exchane on replay, and taped it, and watched it several times.
"Sunny day" describes the best circumstance for the operation of transportation infrastructure. It actually is a relevant variable. And mass evacuations would have been more effective if there was a massive, operatine mass transportation system. But there wasn't.
There were those buses.
Her excuse is a lame one, but I don't believe she was impugning the workings in NOLA, Orlando, or whatever other cities she named. She was blaming the Feds for not making better transportation infrastructure.
So on a day when everything's working as well as possible, most cities in the USA can't get (all?) their people to work.
That sounds like a real accurate assessment. She's weaseling in a different direction than indicated by Newsmax but weaseling as hard as she can.
Now Rush is bringing up the 'cooking the books' by Senator Landrieu, how she schemed to funnel the funding.
She will. Meanwhile, quite a few people are jumping to what is likely a false accusation. Better to ask her to clarify than accuse her of impugning the city workers.
The Landrieu political family is a curse on the state of LA.
I imagine Bush could use the SAME excuse

Clarification starts with questions. I'm AXing them.
Consider Rush's statement "Just imagine if a REPUBLICAN had said that !"
A Republican would be hog-tied for saying something so obviously racist. She'll get the usual pass from the MSM.
She said "have a hard time getting all their people to work on a sunny day," and truth be know, some people do fail to show up, typically due to accidents, etc; sometimes due to congenstion caused by construction and what not.
Anyway, her excuse is lame on its face; and to boot, it was worded so as to be more likely to be taken the wrong way (impugning city emplyees) than what she meant.
If there were not any drivers, why weren't the mayor and governor on asking for volunteers to drive people out? I'm certain people would have responded. You NEVER heard about the buses with no drivers until AFTER the pictures floated (sorry) around the internet.
Did the local authorities even ASK the public bus drivers if they would transport people to safety ... I THINK NOT !
LOL. Good on you. Anyway, it's Mary who has the burden to clarify her statement. It took me a few hours to figure out how the devil she could manage to connect mass transit with her answer, and it dawned on me that "their people" was referring to the entire population of the area.
It's interresting because as more time goes by, the more clearly foolish comments like ones landrieu made Sunday morning are. I mean, her continued refusal to place any blame on any Louisiana democrat is so blatant it's humerous. She's toast in her next re-election. There will be such a surge of democrat anger in LA, I can't wait to go to LA and help volunteer somewhere. I'm glad where I am in Texas is so close to the border. I am looking forward to joining whoever runs against her, and volunteering to do whatever they need. mary landrieu is my big pet peeve now, and adding that seat to the Republican U.S. Senate majority is something I can't wait to watch unfold. Defeat landrieu, and that will be a major blow to democrat politics in Louisiana.

Excellent point... if poor little N.O. couldn't find any drivers, how the heck can the Federal Government???
I still say, they never asked their public servants to transport their fellow citizens to safety. My bet is, most would have.
If that's the meaning she intended to convey, it's like saying nothing at all. Now, THAT's what I expect from a U.S. Senator, many words with no meaning.

She had to use lots of words. If she answered directly, it would have been an obvious non sequitur.
"Nagin didn't use the buses that were there because the federal government hasn't provided us with funding for mass transit."
Notice that was her back up excuse. Her first choice was, "Those buses are under water."
I just don't believe she was impugning the city workers with her comment - although they may deserve the criticism too ;-)
Trick question, it's never "sunny" in NO!
I spent two weeks in NOLA some 30 years ago. The manager of the lot where I parked my camper said, "Shame you're here during the rainy season." I said "When is the rainy season." He said "Starts about January first and runs through Christmas week."
I was there around Labor Day, and he was right. It rained every day, twice a day. Mornings around 10ish, afternoons about 2. 100% humidity all day, every day. The first thing I bought in NO was an umbrella. I had a great time and throughly enjoyed the food and night life. The people were the friendliest I've ever encountered but that was over thirty years ago. I wouldn't go back now if you paid me.
