BATON ROUGE (AP) Echoing the words of President Bush a day earlier, Gov. Kathleen took responsibility Wednesday for failures and missteps in the immediate response to Hurricane Katrina and pledged a united effort to rebuild New Orleans and the surrounding parishes ravaged by the storm.
We all know that there were failures at every level of government: state, federal and local. At the state level, we must take a careful look at what went wrong and make sure it never happens again. The buck stops here, and as your governor, I take full responsibility, Blanco told lawmakers in a special meeting of the Louisiana Legislature.

Who got her off the "Its all Bush's fault" line??
The Dems will be pissed...
But then again, they have already saturated the media with that claim and gotten everything they can out of it.

Guess this is what happens when Hillry fails to get a "commission" and the republican leadership is wanting to have a Congressional investigation.
Could it be a "truce" is now being sought???

Wow..this is amazing.
First Bush takes "responsibility".
Now two of his main accusers, Nagin and Blanco are following his example, and doing the same.
I'm impressed.

Who is helped by having this or that politician declare, "I take responsibility!"? It doesn't change anything that happened, it doesn't fix anything for the future, and it doesn't come with any consequences for the "responsible" party. In fact, she probably thinks that saying it will relieve her of consequences (such as losing the next election).
They act like saying "I take responsibility," is the equivalent of pleading guilty in a criminal case. No dice, I'm not impressed.
