I was looking at the models on WU. 3 of 4 pointing to Texas. The 4th just a little low towards Mexico. I'm going to have to really watch early because I'll have to get my horses out of here if we end up in the cone and could wind up going towards the storm instead of away from it. People and their pets, huh?

Can't recall the last time they diverted recon from one storm to investigate a different storm.

Our local weather guy did a simulation of what would happen if we got a "katrina" type storm. Evidently our shores slope about the same and he was talking about flooding as far in as San Benito and Olmito.

Looking like it. Haven't seen the other modeling yet, but NHC shows it coming straight across the Gulf.

Well, the way they portray it, looks like a Mexico/Texas 'Cane. But if I were anywhere along the gulfcoast right now, I would not return for a few weeks or I would have my stuff packed and ready to roll.

This one and now Phillipe, which looks like he will just turn right and head out into the open sea.

Saw the computer tracking right after I posted. Looks like they are taking the shotgun approach to forecasting for now. ;)

Either way, time to prepare.

Mom always used the Richelieu Hotel as an example of what NOT to do in a hurricane, now we have a new example. Just told grandsons "this ain't New Orleans", get busy picking up and when you go home, pick up there too. :)

The new forecasts have it dropping a few degrees south. Let's hope for the best! :-)

PS: ever hear the Big Al and Charlie radio show down there?

I want to see what the latest models do. BAMM which ran at 8EDT this morning has it more northward along the Texas Louisiana border, the other older models are further south. Let's hope that ridge pulls it down to Mexico like they think.

During MTP interview this morning, Thad Allen emphasized the weakened state of NOLA levees in the event of another storm; that they are developing revised evac plans. He omitted the news of TD 18 poised to enter the GOM.

This one's a heads up. Ridge parked over Houston is forecast to move a bit west by weeks end. This should be interesting. Cat 2 or Cat 3 when it hits...
