More women are asking for prenups
Sun Sentinel ^ | September 18, 2005 | Georgia East

Over a casual dinner, Rachel Kaplan turned to her boyfriend and asked, "You're open for a prenup, right?"

Darren Waldohlz, 38, a partner in a successful speed-dating business, admits he was caught off guard. But he said he realized a prenuptial agreement would protect the house he owns, too.

"It's not that I plan to get divorced," says Kaplan, 23, a single mom from Fort Lauderdale, who has a sizable inheritance. "I have to protect myself and my daughter."

While men are still more likely to seek a prenup, "women are becoming a more dominant force," said attorney Alan Braverman, who has offices in Fort Lauderdale and Boynton Beach.

Experts attribute the change to women marrying later or more than once.

"It's not uncommon in today's world that women are entering marriages with assets and stock options," said matrimonial attorney Jacqueline Valdespino, in Coral Gables. "Now both sides have equal bargaining power."

Your attitude toward women is what is repulsive, if you would have sex with women you will find valueless afterwards, just to get yourself a few jollies and kill the time.

You are a troglodyte troll. A man of no class, no virtue, no honesty, and no honor.

And that's all I have to say about that.

The real world.

Women get pregnant, men do not.

And that simple fact has shaped mankind in such a way as to make it OK for men to be casual about sex--

And not OK for women to be casual about sex.

I would never marry a woman who had sex with me before I married her.

But I would have sex with her.

For your consumption, and maybe the VK's as well.....

I disagree, I wouldn't impose him on some woman he'd just lie to and betray for a quick jolly.

You're really a rather sad human being. No man should hope his future wife is a virgin, if he is perfectly willing to sleep around himself.

Women may be the only ones who get pregnant but there are a whole lot more side effects that men can get too. Like STDs. Hope you don't have any of those for your future mail-order 'bride'.

I'm not for a change in the definition of marriage in any way. And that means that everything each party owns becomes property of the married pair. If that pair should dissolve, they get treated fairly: they get the 1/2 that's theirs.

It's perfectly fair. This protects the cuckolded spouse as much as it protects the loyal spouse.

A lot of Freepers don't want to change the rules about marriage in regards to same sex couples, noting tradition, custom, etc.

Well, I'm aboard with that. But part of that same definition is the rules for dividing property if the marriage breaks up. It would be immature to start picking and choosing what I want to preserve about marriage and what I want to discard.

PS - Non conditional marriage is a real drag, particularly if your wife decides to date some hunky guy and entertain him in the master bedroom all night, bullying you into the guest room! "No conditions - we're together, forever!" :-)

Men impregnate women; women don't get preggers on their own and there is such a thing as birth control.

No dear, you don't live in the REAL world of the 21rst century at all.

So, tell us again....WHY IS OKAY FOR MEN TO BE RAKES AND CADS PRIOR TO MARRYING, BUT WOMEN MUST REMAIN VIRGIN, OR NEVER MARRY?

If women decide to sleep with me outside of marriage, that's their decision.

Should they expect anything more than a moment's thrill, that's their problem.

No paper, no marriage, no guarantees.

Simple.

The problem is that when two people get married, the property isn't the husband's anymore, or the wife's. It belongs to them both. That's not contingent on staying married, it's contingent on the marriage ceremony.

As I have said, people who don't want to change the definition of marriage to accomodate same sex marriages seem pretty keen on changing the rules for financial reasons. Makes no sense. Getting married means the other party owns an undivided 1/2 of whatever you own (and you own and undivided 1/2 of what they own). Anybody not keen with that should just not get married, and buy lots of lotion and towels.

Period.

Let me guess, you have gotten close, but no cigar right?

LOL

You sound like a 14 yr old who hasn't even held hands with a girl, much less had sex with one.

In the event you get her pregnant, I think you'll find there are, in fact, guarantees.

Simple sweetie,
It's based on fear, insecurity and the need for total control (gee, don't we have a religion that we're fighting that feels that way).

A man marrying a woman who has experience can be found lacking, or failing. She can look him in the eye and say "I deserve better...I've had better".
