Her mother has been on with Greta every night (that I have seen that show.) She does not have an ease with the camera, and is a difficult person to interview. There has been no father or other relative on TV to add any background or support for this girl. I saw a LEO say that after she had been missing for TEN days they could treat it as a suspicious disappearance. I guess it was after that interval that the search for the car really ramped up.
Talking about third world islands...... Have you been to Richmond lately?
That's true.
"I saw a LEO say that after she had been missing for TEN days they could treat it as a suspicious disappearance."
That is a RIDICULOUS amount of time. I thought it was 3 days for an adult, and this gal isn't even an adult, legally.
If America owes an apology to New Orleans, it is for permitting there to be pockets of excessive danger and lawlessness in our country.
I remember when some young hoodlum was residing with a female VCU student in her dorm room. How would you like it if your daughter was a school where non-student hoodlums live right down the hall.
I would encourage all parents of girls to get their daughters enrolled in self defense courses...there are way to many stories like this
Yes, I was very surprised by that admission.
Young women have always felt they can handle just about anything.
If........a small word that has no place in this search for a missing child.
The left EXCUSES violence in it's midst. Particularly since those elites are insulated from the very violence they condone.
One of the things they are going to do is have the girl being 'attacked' close her eyes, then they'll surprise her. One of the Girl Scout leaders told the guys that she was kind of uncomfortable with that, but I reminded everyone that many young girls are attacked in their beds, and they have to come up from a deep sleep to start fighting; it's good for them to be able to fight back when they're attacked without warning. I want them to have every advantage, especially the one of surprise; the guy will not know that they are trained in self-defense, and he'll think they're easy marks.
Our daughter has already said that she has no desire to go to a college with coed dorms, where this situation would be more likely.
Fortunately there are small colleges out there that still provide some measure of security for their female students.
Women do need to get past their natural resistence not to hit.
"Women do need to get past their natural resistence not to hit."
Or to carry. ;)
I am forever grateful I had sons. They come with their own special set of worries, but if I had had daughters, I would be a nervous wreck these days, thinking back to my teen years (I've been on my own, supporting myself since I was 17) and some of the situations I stupidly put myself into while feeling invincible.
I'm not expecting a Happy Ending to this story...
You're right.
We've all been in situations where it could have been us.
Greta has been all over this story. The mother was on Greta's show at least 3 nights last week.
I know the LEO aren't allowed to say that the 38 y.o. man is a "suspect" yet -- but he certainly has behaved suspiciously.
He took photos of that young woman last spring, before she was even a student there, when she had gone to look at the school, and then the guy posted her photos on his website until the end of last week. Greta had a chance to look at his site before he removed them.
Can you imagine? You send your 17 y.o. daughter off to college, and she disappears before the end of her first 2 weeks.
On an earlier thread about this case, someone posted that Richmond has the 4th higher murder rate in the country.
The problem is most parents pay more attention to the "academic rankings" of university's than their safety record or more importantly campus values.Coed floors not just dorms and student ID's that open outside doors of all dorms on campus are more prevalent than people realize.
You're right----this story now seems to be the official cable crime news replacement for the Natalee Holloway story, whose only new wrinkle is that the 3 suspects are freed, and there is incriminating testimony available---evem though the Holloway story has entered a new and important "phase", cable news and Greta welcome a new story to add to the mix to see how deftly they can juggle TWO, count 'em TWO similar stories at the same time. What I want to see is an update on the Chondra Levy story.
