I will vote against the nomination of John Roberts to serve as Chief Justice of the United States. I refuse to vote for a Supreme Court nominee who came before the Senate intent on demonstrating his ability to deftly deflect legitimate questions about his views, opinions and philosophy.
If he is confirmed and he may well be the Roberts Court will shape the course of constitutional law for decades to come. It will decide dozens of cases that will define the depth and breadth of freedom in America our commitment to civil rights, our dedication to civil liberties, our devotion to privacy and a woman's right to choose.
With that much at stake, Judge Roberts needed to show us where his heart is. Instead he recited case law and said little about what he really thought.
While I recognize that other members of the Senate will legitimately make a different choice, I will vote NO on the Roberts nomination.

And, the rest of the nation won't care what you do. John F'n Kerry is about as September 10th as they get. The good thing about that is that he marginalizes himself.
I don't see a down side to it.

...Supreme Court nominee who came before the Senate intent on demonstrating his ability to deftly deflect legitimate questions about his views, opinions and philosophy. This bothers me also Senator. I wish we had the balls to send an unashamed conservative nominee up there. I hope we don't get "Soutered".

I was about to post this too, then saw you had already. I think the title that Kerry had put on his own email is instructive. It read:
"How I'll Vote on the Roberts Nomination"
To which the inevitable question arises:
WHAT MAKES HIM THINK ANYONE, ANYONE CARES?
I truly mean anyone. I mean, assuming that he and Teresa live together, try to imagine him coming down to breakfast and saying: "Teresa, I've decided how I'm voting on Roberts."
Can you imagine her giving the smallest Madagascaran fig? And if not Teresa, then whom?

Brother. The only person any dem would vote for would be someone who said "I love abortion legal on a federal level and will uphold Roe vs. Wade."
This should teach Bush something. If a likable, smart, intelligent guy like Roberts can't get a dem vote then it doesn't matter who he nominates so he might as well go for the whole shooting match.
