Roberts nominated 13-5 vote
C-span 3 | 21 Sept 2005 | EDCOIL

Posted on 09/22/2005 9:52:02 AM PDT by edcoil

I am watching a Cspan 3 of the vote. Hard to read the screen but it looks like a 12 to 5 vote for Roberts to be Chief Justice.

I am unsure of that I do agree that Leahy voted yes to show they aren't partisan but Wisconsin has been a toss up state since the 2000 election and Kohl could be in danger of losing his next election as he hasn't written any major legislation or been in the spotlight.

His only claim to fame in Wisconsin is his Kohl's food and department stores along with owning the Bucks. I would love to see Herbert Kohler run against him in '06. That would make for one confusing ballot.

Schumer went to a party at Soros digs in NYC several nights ago. The big S gave Schumer the word. Vote no or else.

hate to admit it, but we're just as, or more, shameful here in NY with Chuckie and Mrs. Clinton.

You're right....we'll have to call it a tie!! LOL (or should the be COL for Crying out Loud!?!?!)

Supposed to have the vote towards the end of next week last report.

Btw, I hope President Bush nominates Ted Olsen..Barbara was one of my favorites, she died in the 9-11 pentagon building on the plane that crashed into it..he would be great, I have listened to him in oral arguments before the Supreme Court.

Who do Specter and the rest of the dem's think they are warning the President who to put forward next...it is not up to them and the person had better be conservative.

He probably didn't like the fact that the tape of him basically coaching Ginsberg, was played over and over, so he took it out on Roberts.

Thank you. Ted Olson will make a great nominee.

Somebody might want to tell them that we haven't flooded, yet, so the cameras aren't rolling.

Durbin is from Springfield Illinois and he at one time was a pro-life democrat. He betrayed not only his constituents but also his values when he put his career above both.

Joe Biden's also an admitted plagerist but you won't hear that from the media anymore.

I'm surprised that Specter voted yes. He may as well be a Democrat. I still say it was a mistake to give him the gavel; he's not earned it and he has to be watched constantly.

To give them credibility on opposing the next nominee.

If the Dems were united against Roberts, then they would be seen as being impossible to please no matter what.

Now, when the next one comes out, they can point to their Yea vote on Roberts. It gives them cover.

Good! In the back of my mind I was concerned we'd have a repeat of the Bolton committee conduct, with some RINO breaking down in tears and putting a hold on things. But Roberts showed he is smarter than all of them.

Coburn doesn't want to vote with the Dems but Roberts is way too liberal for him. LOL

Also Bush barely lost this state.

I'm not entirely convinced he lost the state of Wisconsin. The margin was very close - certainly within the margin of democrat vote fraud in Milwaukee.

Wasn't Feingold a classmate of Roberts at Harvard Law School?
