Jordan Says Israel Has No Religious Right to Jerusalem

(IsraelNN.com) Responding angrily to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's United Nations General Assembly address, Jordan's Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs blasted both the address and the United Nations.

The official Jordanian body referred to Sharon's statements documenting the Jewish People's historic right to Jerusalem as untrue, calling it "full of lies and untruths," questioning how the international body permits a "war criminal" to make "false claims" regarding the holy city.

"...according to the great mystics of the past, Safed is to play an important role in the final redemption. The Meam Loez, in the name of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, says that the Messiah will come from Safed on his way to Jerusalem. The Ari HaKodesh said that until the Third Temple is built, the Shechinah (God's Manifest Presence) rests above Safed.

Its past is also rich and great. According to legend, Safed is where Shem and Ever, son and grandson of Noah, established their yeshiva where Jacob (Yaakov Avinu) studied for many years. According to other sources, the town was founded in 70AD.

The city flourished in the 16th century, when many famous Jewish religious scholars and mystics moved to Safed following the Spanish Expulsion,, fleeing from the horrors of the Inquisition.

Safed then became the spiritual center of the Jewish world, where Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism) reached the peak of its influence. Kabbalists, such as Rabbi Yitzhak Luria (Ha-Ari HaKadosh) and Rabbi Shlomo Alkabetz (author of Lecha Dodi) and Rabbi Yosef Karo (author of the Shulchan Aruch) just to name a few, made the city famous. It was here that the first printing press in the Middle East was set up, publishing in 1578 the first Hebrew book to be printed in Israel. At that time the town was also a thriving trade center.

However, Safed suffered terribly during the ensuing years due to earthquakes, plagues and Arab attacks. In modern times, the liberation of Safed was one of the most dramatic episodes in the 1948 War of Independence.

Safed is one of the four holy cities in Israel, together with Jerusalem, Hebron and Tiberias."

And what "religious right" does the "Hashemite Kingdom" have to 80% of the Palestinian Mandate?

Exactly. About the same as the "palestinians" have to 3/4 of what was left over after Jordan was created!

As to the "palestinians" ...

"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct 'Palestinian people' to oppose Zionism." --- PLO executive committee member Zahir Muhsein on March 31, 1977

Jordan has no Religious right to Jordan. And God is going to pry that land out of their cold dead fingers within the next five years. (Isaiah 15, Zephaniah 2) So the "King" of Jordan can just go pound sand for all I care.

Yes they do. Even if you don't believe that, it is their country, therefore their business.

Perhaps Muslims have no right to claim Mecca as a holy shrine. Or the temple mount. Eh Jordan? How does that grab ya?

Somebody ought to slap that wanna be little king of Jordan to keep his rhetoric down and control their overzealous "freedom" fighters.

He should take a page from his father's book as to how to handle sensitive international affairs.

I think Bush has "written off" Israel in his over-riding desire to leave himself a "legacy" of establishing pece in the middle east at any cost (to Israel). His poll numbers are at an all-time low, and he's being yanked around by Iraqi insurgents, two hurricanes, and a wolf pack of liberals howling for his head; not to mention stressors like Chinese/Russian wargames, oil/economic crisis at home, North Korea and Russia's coziness with Iran. Looks like he's being pretty well sliced up.

The first conquest that I have been able to find so far is around 1405 B.C. in the time of Joshua when the land was divided between the tribes.

Jos 18:11 And the lot of the tribe of the children of Benjamin came up according to their families: and the coast of their lot came forth between the children of Judah and the children of Joseph.

Jos 18:28 And Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.

The city itself was taken from the Jebusites by the tribe of Judah but they where not completely driven out As God had told them to..

Jdg 1:8 Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire

Jdg 1:21 And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.

The book of Judges was written sometime between 1043 B.C. and 1004 B.C.when they had their first king Saul.

King David reigned first about seven years in Hebron and then thirty- three in Jerusalem.

2Sa 5:4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

2Sa 5:5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

His reign in Hebron was from 1011 B.C.to 1004 B.C. [7 years and about six months]and in Jerusalem from 1004 B.C. to 971 B.C. [33 years.]

Hope this helps. MRN
