Webhosts for Conservative Sites, and Webhosting Experiences of Conservatives
September 24, 2005 | BIRDS

Posted on 09/24/2005 5:52:24 PM PDT by BIRDS

For conservatives, many of the issues important to us are often maligned by liberals. For some of us conservatives who maintain websites, and attempt to discuss and/or explore issues on our sites, some webhosting services disapprove of the issues and discussions and sometimes go so far as to malign conservative customers and their sites accordingly, even refusing service when key issues are being discussed on those sites which are otherwise well maintained, family oriented -- and what by that ensues is the suppression of conservative issues by liberals on the internet.

As conservatives, what are your experiences with webhosts? And, what are your suggestions as to webhosting services for conservative websites? You can't discuss issues on the internet without a website to do so and for those of us who enjoy maintaining our own sites, webhosting is a big issue until and unless we locate a very good webhost who is also a conservative (or otherwise a tolerant liberal...). ~;-D

In my experience, most webhosting services and much of the internet is populated by liberal-to-extremely-leftwing individuals and their webhosting and service enterprises, and finding webhosting and other website services for conservative websites and issues discussions is a challenge.

Thus: your ideas, experiences, suggestions?

I haven't heard anything about any of the major webhosts banning/refusing to take conservatives money. As long as your content is legal and not adult in nature all the big colos/webhosts will take you.

Stay away from TRIPOD at any price.

The biggest concern for a web host is getting paid. The politics of a web site really don't matter, short of obvious taboos.

I haven't found that to be the case at all. Actually the Internet is a great gift for democracy, where many diverse ideas can be opined and debated at length. You just have to choose your websites, thats all. In no way is it dominated by views from the left nor right nor horizontal nor vertical nor 45 degree angle nor ..... nuff said.

Not so. PayPal, Google and AOL that I know of will severely restrict access on Second Amendment matters. You may quibble as you will.

Paypal = money transfer/credit card processing service.
Google = Search engine/bunch of other things
AOL = ISP/content provider.

NONE of the above are webhosts which is they question at hand.

The political disposition of clientele shouldn't matter to a professional service provider. A business where such parameters would factor should be avoided, IMHO. Unless of course the price is just right. :-)

As good as Google is, and it is very good, I have stopped using it for all but the most complex searches. I refuse to put more money in the pockets of the two left wing billionaires who run it. The same two who refused to acknowledge 9/11 on their web site.

Anyway, I recommend checking out Verio webhosting. This site is co-located with Verio[1] and I've had nothing but a positively remarkable experience. Though I am coming from UUNET/WorldCom, where a root canal would be a positive experience, but I digress.

[1] Co-location isn't the same as webhosting, and in fact, are two separate divisions within Verio. But I figure the professionalism and courtesy I've experienced in the one would probably apply to the other as well.

He was asking about web hosts.

None of those are web hosting companies, although AOL may provide 'personal' web pages. Not sure, but they're not a web hosting company, which is the topic of this thread.

All I can say - I have 20+ web sites hosted with:

http://www.forwardweb.com

for several years now - only rare problems, but ForwardWeb jumps on them and fixes everything quickly.

Not mine !

Microsoft is liberal and so is Apple. Are you going to stop using one/both of them?

Tripod doesn't support a lot of the more current/dynamic methods used to generate webpages.
