I arrived in DC yesterday to attend the Support Our Troops Rally. I would guess approx. 200 people were there to support our troops. We arrived at the "Mission Rally" around 12:30. From there the group moved a few blocks to our designated area to 'counter' protest the anti-American, anti-troops protesters. We were seperated by waist high railings and a police line. Our 'area' was about a block long infront of the J. Edgar Hoover Bldg. I don't know where the protesters march orginated but they arrived in our area around 2pm. We left shortly after 5pm at which time the protesters were nearing an end. I would estimate their number to be around 20,000 to 30,000. However I read his morning there were 100,000. Their number is hard to estimate as we noticed some of the same people going through the march repeatedly.

To me, the protesters seemed to be a splintered group. Many depicted out and out hatred for the current Administraton. The remainder appeared to me to be divided between protesting the war, the military and freedom. Within 3 minutes of them arriving in our area I was spat upon. Many of them donned kerchiefs which eerily resembled terrorists. The angry protesters fluxuated between the 'peace' sign and the 'middle finger' salute. Our group remained cohesive in their support of our troops and the war we are waging against terrorism.

I came away with a feeling of a common bond that united complete strangers of all ages.

I am extremely happy with my decision to come to DC. I met many people here from all over the country who strongly support our troops and understand why we are fighting terrorism "over there" instead of here.I will stay for the rally tomorrow which I understand will be covered live by CSPAN beginning at 12pm .

Will be leaving shortly to go to the Rally to Honor Military Families. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!

To all, I am so sorry that I could not make the trip for this important rally from my home on Long Island but rest assured I was with you all in spirit and solidarity. It never ceases to amaze me, the vitriol of the HATE America crowd is beyond my comprehension, but they always seem to outdo themselves. The courage you all exhibited to stand up for our brave troops has always earned my respect. God Bless all the antendees, and God Bless all you represent.

Great shots! Was it awesome? I watched the whole 4 1/2 hours on C-Span. They're repeating it a 2am

Aww, are the little liberals offended by freedom of speech?

I thought so. Most idiot fanatics are.

Isn't that guy a little old to be wearing a shirt with a comic-book character on it? Then again, leftists have never been known as paragons of maturity.

I was wondering when you'd check in - hope all is going well in your camp.

Let NO ONE wonder what these quislings' real agenda is

I've been trying to follow this weekend's events, but I'm currently drowning in my studies, so I haven't been able to pay as much attention as I would like.

BTW, Mrs. cf_river_rat is quite pretty. I saw a picture of her on a thread last night.

The platform for media was set back from the stage about 100 yards. Surrounding this platform were crowd control fences. In front of the stage was another fenced in area, for honored guests and speakers. Along both sides of the edge of the grass were tents set up by various groups of supporters of the Rally. This made a lot of 'empty' space as the camera would show it.

Almost every person there was holding a poster or a flag or wearing patriotic colored clothes. We were spread out but I estimate that about a thousand people were there. It was not possible to see everyone from the cameras of CSPAN, as they were really in the middle of the venue.

I was very pleased with the size of the crowd, having attended other Support the Troops Rallys. this was the largest crowd that I have seen in person.
