Defenders of Iraq war counter-rally Smaller-than-expected gathering follows anti-war protest Sunday, September 25, 2005; Posted: 6:17 p.m. EDT (22:17 GMT) story.rally.ap.jpg Supporters and detractors of the war in Iraq line opposite sides of a Washington street Sunday. WASHINGTON (AP) -- Support for U.S. troops fighting abroad mixed with anger toward anti-war demonstrators at home as hundreds of people, far fewer than organizers had expected, rallied Sunday on the National Mall just a day after tens of thousands protested against the war in Iraq. "No matter what your ideals are, our sons and daughters are fighting for our freedom," said Marilyn Faatz, who drove from New Jersey to attend the rally. "We are making a mockery out of this. And we need to stand united, but we are not."

No, not when they start off supporting terrorist. I don't like liberals. I had to take out their bombs in this country during the 60's and 70's. These post are read all over the world and the readers look for national will. I can post my Freeper ID name on search at Yahoo and I come up with a lot of quotes that I have made. I take this war very serious.

There is a way. We will win this in a grassroots effort. It is our responsibility as Americans on the home front to stay accurately informed. To remember why this all started and always be prepared to speak out any time we hear an antiwar comment. If you are standing in line at Walmart and somebody makes an antiwar statement speak out. Never let anti war comments go unchallenged. They fight for our freedom. Use it. We need to stay informed so we can give accurate, fact based replies to the lies the radical left spreads as truth.

Sorry to hear this. Someone needs to think about why this flopped, and how to do better next time. No point stewing in our own juice.

That said, even 15 is better than nothing.

In political arithmetic, the biggest difference of all is the difference between 0 and 1. The most fundamental political act is one person talking to another. Unsatisfying as it may be, it is still absolutely fundamental. There is no substitute for it. Likewise for one person doing ANYTHING. If we wait around for other people, we often end up doing nothing.

When I was a "newbie" someone called me "stupid". I was very insulted. You shall know who to avoid and you will become thick skinned while freeping and you shall have a ball doing it!

If there is a genuine troll on FReep, or someone says a genuinely outrageous thing, I'm with you: Make him/her feel unwelcome. But not because they're "new."

Thanks for serving your country.

Of your bias we’re weary
I’m afraid we’re not teary
We’ll wave….bye-bye

CNN, you’ll face your fate
It’s about nine years too late
We can live…without you

We’ll live without you…gladly, without you

For the RATS you’ve been spinning
For awhile you were winning
We can live without you

We’ll live without you…gladly, without you, you, you

We will live…we’ll live without you

We are pleased that by FOX NEWS you’re blown away
We are pleased that by FOX NEWS you’re blown away
That’s because you guys suck big
You suck big
And we’re pleased that by FOX NEWS you’re blown away
You guys suck big time

You guys suck big time
You guys suck big time

You will not be missed

You’ve been blown away
You’ve…been blown away
FOX NEWS blows you guys away
You’ve been blown…away
You’ve been blown…away

FOX NEWS blows you guys away
And we’ll all live without you
And we’ll all live without you, you, you

I am sure we’ll live
Yes, we’ll all live without you

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Judy, good bye…Wolfie, good bye
We’ll try to live…without you

I think we’ll live without you
I think we’ll live without you, you, you

And I think we’ll live
Yes, we’ll all live without you

Yes, we’ll all live without you

(slight musical break)

We’ll…live without you
We’ll…live without you

Good bye, Suspender Man
Put Maggie Carlson in the can
Screw Greta and her pal, Al Hunt
For RATS they always had to front
Bill Press, good bye from all of us
Perhaps you’ll get hit by a bus…

Actually, the anti-war demonstration had smaller crowds than expected. So our demonstration allowed the media to shift that criticism to the pro-troop rally. They certainly didn't want to focus on the disappointing turnout for the demonstration they had planned for months.

A bigger question, how to deal with a media that sanitizes the anti-war demonstrators and won't tell readers/viewers who they really are. Did the same thing during Vietnam too.

I just look for the timing of someone joining and the timing of an event and wonder if there is any connection. Seems like to me, this individual was gloating. I would still like to see his or her's answer to which side they are supporting in this war.

When I was a newbie I attempted to post my first thread. Wow, what a mess! I cut and paste all the html from the source, headers, ads, sidebars, etc. Posters using Netscape couldn't even open it.

Freepers were nice about it though, I begged someone to repost it and they did. I did feel pretty stupid about it though.

The CNN(and FOX)story is a crAP story.

Indeed, who really cares what the "enemy" has to say anyway.

You guys and gals did U.S. proud today. Great job! Now let talk-radio take the ball this week and run with it. I assure you heads will be exploding in DUmmyland.

Lying CNN bastards.

What did they lie about?

Don't get me wrong, the title is obvious bias designed to belittle the rally, but I didn't see any lies in the article. Please mention it if I missed them. If I didn't, then you might want to rethink your remarks; after all saying somebody lied when they didn't would be, well, lying.

Hi, new and still learning all the posting ropes. I've never protested, nor do I have any intention. The protests I saw against the war didn't have one unified message. There were speakers calling for the end of the occupation in the Philippines to the typical pro Palestinian groups. They were just screaming and only screaming to each other.
I used to be a democrat. Until not all that long ago. They don't get it. They need votes from people like me to get power back. I can promise they'll never get it by carrying signs with F*** Bush, or holding fake pictures of the First Lady with a black eye as Bill Maher did.

The men and women in the military need to know that they are supported by those who count, Americans with capital A's.

Geez,EOD. Didn't know we could do that.

But that's beside the point. Been lookin' for ya. What's your take on new tech sniffing out IEDs. The range gives me pause.

Discuss at your discretion.

Yes. And, CNN actually clarifying that hundreds are not the same as thousands in the headline is just too denigrating.

They must think the readers a simply stupid.

Kind of surprised me. I was trying to get some information on Army EOD activities in Vietnam and Korea. I typed in US Army EOD and came up in several places to include a short article I put on the "We Were Soldiers" website. That taught me anything we say on these threads can be read all over the world and may or may not have an impact.

I haven't heard anything at all about the new method of finding IED's. I always felt the sack of candy and the orphans was the best--"Just kidding folks"

LOL!!

CNN thinks people are so dumb that they have to be told "hundreds not equal thousands".

Yesterday for the dumb anti-war rally, they simply took Ramsey's numbers as gospel.

No pictures of that.

Police Chief Ramsey said so, and all news outlets basically took it for Gospel.

No proof needed for a liberal argument. It just must be true. :-))
