We've had the House and Senate for years, and we should have a majority on the Supreme Court soon. I don't understand their reluctance either.

They have always wanted to be "cool." But they are hopelessly uncool. Just look at the hairdos of Trent Lott and Tom DeLay - I rest my case. Secretly, they want to win the approval of democRATS to validate them. Like the Germans during WWII going out of their way to fawn over their Fuhrer - even though they knew he was wrong. Or wimpy kids on the school playground sucking up to the bully, who kicks their asses anyway.

I agree jos are taken "freely", but only in the same sense that welfare is taken "freely". Nobody forces me to work, but nobody forces the "slaves of NO" to take welfare either.

In either case, we are forced to do ~something! to survive in this world.

"But when given their freedom didn't know what to do or where to go, having been told what to do all their lives"

That scenario is at varying stages of relplaying itself in several other areas around the world right now (e.g. Zimbabwe right now, Venezuela just starting).

And in those cases, like w/ the original slaves of the US, it isn't that they were just lazy recipients before hand.

What kills me in particular about the NO situation is that these people will sit there in lawn chairs somewhere complaining about their situation all day long. Meanwhile some poor schmuck who still believes in working for a living will be out there in the hot sun shovelling sh|t to rebuild FOR them.

Why not just send them a couple truckloads of tools and materials and tell them "Here ya' go... Start reconstructing"?

Even if they don't have the requisite skills to build, couldn't they at least get off their @sses and help cleanup?

Its as thought that point never even comes up in public discussion. They can't all be "disabled".

Its just disgusting....

You're right. They have the ready made excuse that they "lack education and training" (never mind that they got the same 12 yr bite at the free education apple that everyone else got).

But what about the menial sh|t shoveling jobs? They can't even push a broom or shovel? Instead their "oppressor" has to come down and do it for them?

Its bad enough when we have to pay for all this. Its ridiculous when we have to act as their servants too.

Medieval serfs never paid more than 10% of their earnings to their masters.>>>>>>>>>>

Reference please? I believe I was taught in school that it was one third, still lower than our total tax burden but a lot more than 10%. Of course it might be a little difficult to calculate the actual figure if we bear in mind that the serf received a house to live in as part of his share, whereas we have to pay enormous sums for a house and then pay property taxes to the master so that we can live in it.

This is where Habbit for Humanity (Jimmy Carter UGH!) could do some good... since they would be required to participate in the building of their home it might 1)teach a skill, 2) instill some pride, 3) get them off their rears.

True; more or less.. But then if you OWN a house/property how can it be TAXED, if YOU own it.. A tax in that case would be RENT.. paid to gov't.. Government is therefore renting you the house/property.. Socialism (in any form) is slavery by government.. SO also, are licenses, fees, and a whole range of permits paid to government.. Basically rent on government OWNED privileges..

Socialism is a more sophisticated serfdom.. When a "right" is made a privilege much is lost.. A total mystery to all Canadians, British, Germans and French; but then, Canadians and the others have never even had any "rights" at all, ever.. merely privileges..

We used to have rights here in the U.S... but we voted them all away.. and have become serfs.. And republicans(mostly) are totally unaware of it.. and democrats welcome serfdom.. Who's living in a dream world? and who's living in reality?.. The republican party is in extreme denial.. headed by very confused individuals.. both in the executive branch and in Congress whom appoint additional confused ones to the Bench..

But "the fault" lies with those that elected them.. "US".. A Civil War could raise this house and build another.. because the foundation was layed correctly.. Other than that we are maintaining a shack.. a money pit.. AND the money spent to maintain it is loseing value too..

Thats a long way from being a real "slave". I don't think anyone here will ever know how that really is. I sure wouldn't want to.

Anthony Johnson ought to be in a 'Book of Firsts.' As the most ambitious of the first 20, he could have been the first negro to set foot on Virginia soil......first negro slave owner and as the first, white or black, to secure slave status for a servant, he was actually the founder of slavery in Virginia.

Remarkable if true (and I have no reason to doubt the veracity of the above), and shines the light of truth upon a dark subject. Blacks were not the only slaves of the Europeans. The Scots and Irish were slaves of the British as well, especially in the North and Canada. African Blacks, as well, benefited on the supply side of the Atlantic slave trade. The white slave traders HAD to purchase their slaves from black slave merchants in Africa. Slavery is not a black and white issue, it is a human issue.

When the issue of long dead slavery in the USA is replaced with a dialogue about the dynamics of "group", as in country club vs street gang, we all might somewhere. Until then we will fight the Civil War for eternity.

I wish the GOP would grow some Nuts and start attacking.

If the GOP attacked it would prove that our country only has one real political party. The illusion of a two party system would evaporate.

The Democratic party ideology is really a failed communist party platform.

In away we live in a corporate dictatorship with the MSM providing play by play propaganda to keep the two party system looking equal.

The Democratic Party of NOLA couldn't keep the generator in the SuperDome running because 25,000 people and the LA Nation Guard couldn't figure out how to find more fuel before the day and a half supply was used up and the electricity would go out.

These 25,000 idiots couldn't even clean up after themselves and on TV the Democratic Party embarrassed at this behavior had to blame Bush for their loser voters.

Blacks Turn On Whites In New Orleans Superdome

Individuals that still retained the ability to think for themselves said, “to hell with local government leaders” and got out by whatever means possible. One enterprising young man commandeered an unused school bus and drove his neighbors to safety without local government permission or help.

----There is someone who used those buses! See Ray? I say make this man the New mayor. He has more brains than the one they have now.
