"It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with his life. Hailing back to the spirit of our Scottish ancestors. The Declaration of Arbroath, the first "Declaration of Independence" 1320

Still fighting the Civil War? How's about giving us all a good ol' "Rebel Yell"!

No, we are not "still" fighting anything. We simply deplore everything about "Yankees" [read blue state people]. And a Southern [read red state] lady does not raise her voice, much less "yell" -- we leave that to you Yankees [read blue state people]. It is a cultural thing, not a South/North thing.

How is this relevant to anything I have posted?

If I knew how to post images, I would post one of the ultimate viking kittie.

I don't think slavery was right.

I would re-phrase this. I would state: I know that slavery is wrong.

We cannot re-live the past; nor can we re-write history. Hopefully, in the early 21st century, we are more enlightened than they were in the past. We should learn from the mistakes of the past and make every effort not to repeat them.

In the early 22nd century they will probably be more enlightened than we are today. I will not condemn the past and hope that the future will not condemn us. Times change and customs change. We can all only try to live a moral life during the time in which we live.

And, I am still proud to be a Southerner and will not be a Yankee -- in this world or the next.
