After Action Report of the "Secure the Borders" Rally Austin, TX 10/1/05
10/2/05 | the Bat Lady

Posted on 10/02/2005 8:40:29 AM PDT by The Bat Lady

Sorry it took me so long to get this up. The day got away from me. Freepers joined with The Minutemen, Save our Taxpayers and Constituion Party to remind the leaders of our country that it is THEIR JOB to secure the borders. We had wonderful speakers that I wish I would reprint their speeches. 1st because we didn't hear them well and 2nd because they were so passionate and truthful.

I tried to find a terrorist costume and was going to sneak across the "borders" but there wasn't one and they DID Have a great BAT GIRL costume. I had to have it and of course if I bought it, I had to wear it. My sign was "CALLING ALL SUPER HEROS" "GUARD US BORDERS THE GOV. WON'T" I figured they couldn't think the Bat Lady would be racist...... how silly of me.

I meet Swinney Switch and the Mrs. How wonderful to see you there.

For our side I assigned Mr. Bat Lady to speak (since I didn't think the BAT costume would be good for the speaker) I will get his speech for a later bump. And of course I will have to tell you about the rude children counter-protesting us.

Silly Bat Lady, Free speech only belongs to liberals and their enablers in the press.

We had about 50-75 people attending and I wished it had been been more. We had about 8 bad tempered, hatefilled "children" who were so disrespectful they started shouting as soon as our MC started the program and they were still shouting when I left.

I give you 3 chances to guess what they were shouting. With the Bullhorn. I recall when the freepers went to counter one of their rallies and I refused to yell over their rally. They had the permit and it was their "right to free speech" even if I didn't agree with what they were saying.

Well now I have experienced it and all I can say is that it is a shame that their mothers didn't teach them an manners. I have never seen such angry, hateful, hatefilled, ill-mannered children in my life. It just makes you wonder if America can survive with this as the next generation.

And then, we have the young lady who spoke for the "Young Conservatives of Texas" I didn't make notes of what she said but I wanted to cheer almost every sentence. She was great! that Gal will shine so bright that she will be a leader of this country and those others will be the ones cleaning the septic tanks in life and that is why they yell and disrupt.

Silly me, I thought the constitution promised ALL OF US the freedom of speech. I hate that the KKK can still spout their hatred, the Nazi party and now the "anti-racist something" at least they printed up T-shirts so we could ID them. They not only were rude, but can be possibly violent. I saw that the moment before the rally when a young girl (with peirced face all over) spoke to one guy with just hate dripping in her voice and then said "she would be back" I can't imagine that her hate is reserved just for the "racists" she thought we were.

Anyway I spoke to the Troopers after the meeting and asked why the counter-demos were allowed to come so far inside the grounds to our rally if we were the ones who had the permit? He said they can only request that they stand back, only request that they keep the noise down and can only request.....So the point is that if you are dealing with people who have no respect for other people then you have one group that tramples all over the others.

I can see why there have to be so many laws.... to try to control disrespectful people. But then they don't respect those laws either and then you need more. a vicious circle.

"In fact, that issue (illegal imigration) has so little public popularity that it is unlikely to become an election issue in 2006 or 2008, either (well, outside of 3rd party "conventions")."

Not even ten posts in the first hour for this thread on...drum roll...illegal immigration. Not even one hundred showed up for the rally.

The radical Left can have 15,000 show up for a Washington rally at the drop of a hat, yet even those levels aren't large enough to force their "issues" to become national campaign points during election season. Having merely 80 show up won't do it for the Right, either...that's for certain.

Basically, it's just a vocal on-line group and some talk-show hosts parroting your issue. You can create a temporary echo-chamber for each other if you want...thereby giving yourself the appearance of popularity and importance...but it will only leave you bitter, frustrated, and "surprised" come election season 2006 and 2008.

Here's an experiment for you: go to an unfamiliar barber shop (i.e. you know no one) and just *listen*. Don't talk. Don't repeat aloud your pet issue in some vain hope that your temporary audience will politely nod their heads long enough to get you to shut up.

Just listen.

Write down what people talked about. Notice the small talk. Notice the sports talk. Notice the local issues talk. Notice the politics.

If you can get out of there without saying a word, then you will have some brief, unadulterated view (a rare thing in life) of your world around you.

If you find that you have to interject your opinion, then your experiment will have been a waste of your time. People behave differently in public whenever they detect an ideologue nearby, and that will ruin your opportunity to learn a little about your world.

Do this experiment successfully and you'll come away with a slightly better idea of why it is so difficult to gin up support for these rallies...why this issue isn't on the Sunday talk shows or burning up the front pages of your local newspaper.

Or you could just keep your eyes (and ears) shut to your fellow citizens. No one can twist your arm hard enough to make you do this experiment if you insist upon living without knowing how your society actually feels.

Hayworth Introduces 'Enforcement First' Immigration Reform Bill

Proposes Zero Tolerance for Illegal Immigration

WASHINGTON- U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth today introduced sweeping legislation containing core conservative principles that should guide the national effort to confront illegal immigration.

The Hayworth bill, a 115-page document incorporating new proposals authored by the Arizona Republican and a host of anti-illegal immigration measures offered by House conservatives, takes an enforcement first approach and rejects guest worker plans.

why this issue isn't on the Sunday talk shows

Tom Delay was just on with Wolf Blitzer talking about how the repubs had better pay attention to this issue.

Don't pee down our leg and try to convince us it's raining.

Granted we can't get 15,000 to a rally at the top of a hat.
But then we don't PAY THEM TO GO THERE,
we don't PAY FOR THE BUSES TO GET THEM THERE.

We have jobs to support the couch potatoes and their time so they can subvert our country. I'm sure they think this is a great Country or what?!! I don't hear them say that often.

Most conservatives are not the in the street rally types. Doesn't mean they don't care, or that they wont' go to the polls and vote. Just means it's harder to get them to rallies.

It was great to be there, Bat Lady. The Mrs. is now Lady Cat Herder. We met some wonderful people from all over Texas there Sat.. Told one of the troopers, as we watched the rude children with the bull horn, "too bad the brass cannon isn't functional". His reply: "they were at one time." Keep that in mind.

After Austin, we traveled, appropriately enough, to Gonzalez, by way of the Luling City Market, to watch the reenactment of the Come and Take It Battle of the Texas Revolution!

The Mrs and I were also in Crawford at the Support the Troops event. We're thinking of becoming "professional supporters"! Ha!

Upon reading this statement, I pictured bullhorns blaring and terrorist-looking masks to protect their identities (as usual). They're nothing but a bunch of cowards.

BTTT for J.D. Hayworth's "ZERO TOLERANCE" bill!

Anyone who says that illegal immigration isn't the biggest problem facing America has his/her head buried in the sand. The problem encompasses security, finances, sovereignty, jobs and lowering of our wages, rule of law, danger from diseases, and increased taxation.

Those reasons should be enough to wake people up!

And a lot of us have been helping out with the Katrina victims, so many causes, so little time. The lefties don't bother with disaster victims.
