I really need to see a map of Lake George were the boat went down. There are so many shallow areas and such.
Like I said in an earlier post I think the people were trapped. It was not about hypothermia or swimming to shore.
It was drowning.
Tragic.

Was Senator Kennedy operating the other boat?

Just from the looks of her, I'd say 47 was over rated.
It says it's a 40 footer but sure doesn't look it.

Thanks so much for the pictures! I was just watching this covered on MSNBC, and your pictures really make it easier to understand how this could happen.

Why weren't there FEMA frogmen waiting in the water when the boat turned over? |

I was on a tour boat there last year - double decker - i.e. top heavy. if you are inside a capsized boat with the water rushing in - I sort of remember white life rings on white walls, and not one for everyone. They don't plan on capsizing.
There was a tour boat that turned turtle in Baltimore harbor a couple years ago.

A larger boat's wake swamped the Ethan Allen causing it to capsize and sink immediately. Reminds me of the time Hillary and her people blew through the airport in a big hurry running over the policeman.

The water was 68 degrees, not too cold at all. They probably died by being trapped inside some of that glass.

That boat shown is not 40 feet long.

Or they couldn't float or swim. Sad situation. I just posted on another thraed that some might have been handicapped.

The height of the skipper can be fitted 6 times in the length of that boat, in the photograph, which makes her roughly a 36 footer if the skipper is 6 feet tall.

36 feetThat's what I was thinking.
But, as has been noted elsewhere on another thread by someone who sounds wise on these things, the boat is a little too top heavy because of the glass and other design issues.
