As many as 3500 Christians from 81 villages adopted Hinduism in Etah on Sunday.
After a 'yagna', the converts took food together and vowed to serve the Hindu community at a programme organised by the Dharm Jagran Samiti.
Yogi Aditya Nath, MP, who was also present at the function, said those who have converted to Hinduism should be given proper regard by the society.
Forced conversion under any sort of threat is no conversion at all.
Then they were never truly Born Again Christians in the first place.
Time for the federal government over there to fry some Hindu gurus Fur Shur.
Are these "Rice Christians"?
They convert to Christianity because the missionary gives out rice to the poor. When the rice is gone, they return to their former religion.
We all know what RINO stands for. Well try CINO.
Why does the missionary require conversion in exchange for the rice to begin with?
To raise their social status. Christians are outcasts in the Indian Caste system.
Reverse missionary work...same thing

Wow. Etah spelled backwards is hate.
A lot of these third world countries do not have pastors that can help them learn and grow past the cradle in their christian walk. As a result, it's much easier to leave their faith behind and convert to something else. Either that or for some christianity is just something else to believe in and so they can take it or leave it.
***Why does the missionary require conversion in exchange for the rice to begin with?***
He doesn't.
The natives are smart enough to know that it is easier to get free rice if they convert, that is till the rice runs out.
Kind of like modern day welfare. To get free welfare money vote democratic.
Etah, Yagna; backwards, that comes out - Hate Angay, Hmmm.
But the law is never enforced with regard to conversions to Hinduism, only conversions from Hinduism, virtually all of which, in practice, are considerd to be "forced."
Hindus are more likely to convert to Christianity if they are lower-caste. Christianity does not include the caste system, so it is an escape. In order to get such converts back, Hindus have to treat them better, which explains the meaning of the last sentence in the article.
In a way, Christianity is changing Hinduism even as these people unconvert, or reconvert.
We should not be too critical of the Indians when we observe that Christianity has largely been abandoned in practice by the intellectual elites in Europe and the coastal US.
Remember that Jesus said that good example is the best influence, and right now America doesn't look very clean to outsiders. Rice or no rice, gross materialism has never impressed the Indian mind.
I agree.Anyone truely touched by Christ would never become a Hindu or embrace any other so called faith.
Good for them. You know Jesus only had two arms, and now their new gods have lots more arms to worship. And I think one is a power ranger.
This could get interesting:-)
For you;-)
