I'll still give you grief.

I feel FINE.

I am pretty certain President Bush knows more about Meirs than you know about ANY prospective candidate you favored.

There is nothing automatically suspect about a lawyer clerking for a Democrat judge. We are talking the law, not politics, when we talk about such matters.

Further, some post that she donated to Gore. But that was in 1988 when he was avowedly pro-life. As for donating to Lloyd Bentsen, that is a Texan donating to an old-style Texas Democrat, and I have no knowledge of where Bentsen stood then on life issues, so can't speak to that.

BTW, how old was Reagan when he became a Republican? You know who convinced him to do it? I read where it was his daughter Maureen. Of course, he was prime and ripe to do it, it was just a hard thing for him to finally do.

But like I said, there is Ralph Hall who in Congress switched to the GOP after he was 80 yrs. old. He had the most conservative voting record in the House.

Bill Kristal just said on Fox that Bush flinched and capitulated

And bill krystol also supported mccain.

He's clueless, just like any other DC pundit.

"Seems her only asset is the fact she wears a skirt"

Looking at her, that's not much of an asset.

"ACLJ is for this nominee----Planned Parenthood is against"

Works for me. And the fact that she was not a judge is even better. My goodness, I have never seen such hysteria on FR in years. Bush knows her personally, all of us here don't. Why on earth do we think we know more than he?

>>If he said that, she's a good choice. Kristal is not my favorite.<<

LOL. That makes me feel better too!

Except it's probably not that Exodus, but this one http://www.exodusministriesinc.com/objective.htm . (according to her profile: "EXODUS Ministry, Inc. Former Member, Board")

Since this one is located in Dallas, TX, it's more likely that she's affiliated with this one instead. Not that it's a bad ministry, it's just not going to flame as if it's the other one.

The reason we're unhappy (to put it mildly) is because he RENEGGED ON HIS WORD and did not pick a justice "in the mold of Scalia and Thomas". FNC just said.."a number of Democrats suggested she would be a good choice". And THIS makes you comfortable?!! She has ZERO judicial experience. THIS is qualification to be on SCOTUS?!! For the love of God!

Since when have the dems ever spoken what they are really thinking. Perhaps dingy harry is blowing smoke.

Apparently, yes. And give Bush NO credit for his "stealth" nominees before find out how they will actually vote. Some weak-kneed Freepers are getting their morning excercise with all their jumping to conclusions.

If one Republican jumps ship, she will not be confirmed. This is now about politics not principle.

I'm just shocked and disappointed in George Bush.

HEY EVERYONE!!!

CALM DOWN AND THINK FOR A SECOND.

This is just my opinion, so plesae don't flame me.

If Bush sends someone like her to the Committee, someone who is not "staunchly pro-life", and then Kennedy and Co. STILL ATTACK HER, then Bush will have successfully painted the Dems as out of the mainstream. (We know that already but this will get Joe Average's attention.)

He can then withdraw her, and then send Janice Rogers Brown and be percieved as taking the high ground.

Just a thought.

God Bless Freeper Nation!

I'm with you. I refuse to let my disappointment take me over the cliff with the rest of the lemmings. We just don't know enough about her yet.

I keep popping in and out of here to try to find some factual information, get reaction from the left, etc, but it's all gloom and doom, and every kind of histrionics imaginable. Good grief.
