© 2005 WorldNetDaily.com Local and federal agents were carting away what was described as a huge cache of explosives from the apartment of the 21-year-old student who blew himself up outside the stadium where 84,000 watched a Sooners football game.
Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., died in the explosion, according to FBI officials.
Investigators believe Hinrichs detonated a bomb about 8 p.m. Saturday, just 100 yards away from the packed football stadium.
Police were overheard telling residents it would take "several trips and could take up to 24 hours" to remove it all, according to the Daily Oklahoman.
A canister trailer used for detonating or transporting potentially explosive material was being used to haul items away.
Officials said Hinrichs' motive for blowing himself up Saturday near the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium during the second quarter of OU's game against Kansas State remains under investigation.
OU President David Boren said Hinrichs was a student "who had very, serious personal problems that led to this tragic death."
Because of what happened, Boren said, the FBI had taken over the investigation.
Boren said the student had explosives strapped to his body.
Investigators would not say whether they believe Hinrichs intended to go inside the stadium before the detonation happened.
Nothing like that in local reports.

As if figuring that out is rocket science.

University of Oklahoma President David Boren seems determined to have everybody believe Joel Henry Hinrichs III was merely a disturbed young man who decided to commit suicide by blowing himself up within 100 yards of a stadium containing 84,000 screaming fans of Sooner football.
Sorry, I don't buy it, at least not yet. Here's why: First, The Daily Oklahoman is reporting authorities found a large cache of bomb-making materials in Hinrichs' apartment. The cache is so big that the Oklahoman quoted one of the officials on the scene as estimating a full 24 hours would be required to cart away all of the material.
Suicide victims don't normally accumulate a large amount of bomb-making material in their homes. People intent on blowing up other people do.
Second, the proximity to the stadium suggests Hinrichs' target was the crowd, perhaps as people were leaving the game. But being an OU student, he presumably would have access to the student seating section and could have gone from that area to anywhere else in the crowd he chose.
What better place to detonate a bomb guaranteed to both kill and maim many, as well as incite terror and possibly a stampede that would kill and injure more people? My guess is Hinrichs was kept from reaching his target by a premature detonation. Add the proximty of the Micro-Biology building and you may have the potential for a kind of bio-bomb that could have guaranteed utter chaos in and around the stadium.
Third, why was Boren sufficiently familiar with Hinrichs to so quickly issue an opinion about his motive in the bombing? When he resigned in November 1994 as a senator, Boren was chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. He left the Senate just as the Democrats lost their majority in the GOP sweep of 1994.
Add to his Senate years the presence of an active and long-established Muslim student presence on the OU campus stemming from the school's excellent Petroleum Engineering program, and it stands to reason that Boren has been privy to intelligence briefing as head of the school. Is that how he knew of Hinrichs?
Fourth, Hinrichs appears to have a fresh beard, which is characteristic of new Muslim male converts. His father told The Oklahoman his son was a quiet, intellectual type, but he had no idea what might have incited him to take his own life. We can only assume the father also didn't know of the bomb-making material in his son's apartment. Perhaps we are dealing with a recent or a secret convert?
Finally, if Hinrichs was just a disturbed guy who decided to kill himself with a bomb 100 yards from a crowd of 84,000 people instead of simply putting a bullet through his temple, slashing his wrists or some other traditional way of doing away with oneself, why is the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force now the lead agency in the investigation?
I can't wait to find out all the facts of this story. Just hope the MSM doesn't try to bury it because it may look bad for their new best friends, the Islamists.
He may not have intended to kill himself, radio waves could have set off his devise before he could get it into place
Saturday? I haven't seen ANYTHING about this in my local paper yet.
Your link is not a dupe for what I posted, but thanks.
They have already Buried it. Even Google news can't find it, which means its not appearing on the web sites of any major MSM outlet or even small newspapers with enough frequency to percolate up to the google-bot's attention.
That's precisely how the authorities handled the July 4th 2002 terrorist attack by an Egyptian Muslim at the El-Al airline section at LAX. (Fortunately, El-Al guards know how to handle slimeball terrorists and quickly put down that dumb animal on the spot.)
lol we posted this story, originally from 1:00 am, at exactly the same time over 15 hours later. Mine was pulled!
The Mods always liked you better anyway. "why can't you be more like hispanarepublicana" they would say. No wonder I have a complex!
The muzzies are not as stupid as everyone believes, dont know if he was a muzzie or not but they will start using WASP looking people to do their work. I don't think this was a prank gone bad as some have suggested, nor was it an experiment unless you count how many infidels can I kill as an experiment.
Of course, maybe he simply couldn't face the possibility of losing to Texas next week.
Regardless, we are very fortunate that he prematurely detonated. Could have killed a lot of people.
The silence on the national news front is more deafening than the explosion.
Instead of headlines, a few local outlets are exclusively covering a story that is clearly of tremendous national interest.
If I ever doubted there was some sort of nationwide control over media coverage, those doubts have vanished in light of what I am witnessing in this case.
Stunning. Absolutely stunning.
Geez...what's your city and the name of your local paper?
Very interesting post! Well, I hadn't heard about the beard yet, but on another thread, someone posted a link to a site that claimed they'd found Islamic materials in his apartment along with all the bomb making items.
No, it was pulled because you posted it about three minutes after this one. It was post# 1495912, and this one is post# 1495911.
That's the most likely reason why your thread was pulled, not favoritism on the part of the mods.
Playing Devil's Advocate....
Might it be that for once in their dismal lives the MSM is acting responsibly and cooperating with the FBI to allow time for them to catch co-conspirators?
Ok, Ok, silly idea. Howbout this: They haven't figured how they can hang this on Bush yet?
You might want to hit abuse on yourself regarding that post to keep this thread from being deleted and/or to keep in good graces with the Mods.....(we're not supposed to link to that site either).
I know because my two sons sadly (to me anyway) converted to Islam a few years ago.

Apparently The Northeast Intelligence Network is not trusted around here. There's a reason for this. If one of us made stuff up in our basement, it wouldn't be trusted here either. We leave that sort of thing to CBS News.

Why did they pull it? Are we not supposed to link to WND stories?
Sure makes you wonder....
I'm in upstate NY. Most of the headlines lately have been about a local guy who abducted his daughter, dropped her off, stole some cars, and held a couple people hostage. Sunday's haedline was about- I'm NOT kidding- manure lagoons. What planet has the editor been on in the last couple of days?
Whatever the reason for spiking this story, whether for "good" motives or "bad", the very fact that this is happening is significant.
What's amazing is that we're seeing this here, but don't see it in many other cases where it would seem at least as well justified.
Whatever the explanation, the very fact that this is taking place has profound implications for those who are concerned about global control of commercial media.
If news can be blacked out for something like this, it can be done for anything.
That's much bigger news than the bombing itself.
So I baked them those cookies and took them on that pheasant hunt for nothing?
Somebody joked yesterday... a 'phone-call'.
It's crystal clear to me that this guy wasn't planning to blow himself up, but to kill thousands and plant more bombs later. Thank God, his plot failed and he didn't kill anyone but himself.
I know, it was just a joke.
:^)
One possibility (not claiming this is how it worked...) Buys cheap throw away cell phone, wires to bomb. Goes in Stadium and leaves vest, backpack, etc.
Goes outside and calls it.
But before he gets in, while arming it, the cell phone gets a call, or he pushes a button accidently on it, causing the speaker to sound (the easiest circuit to tap for trigger pulse is the cellphone ringer and/or speaker).
Tinfoil hats say that there are cell phone blockers in stadiums, but if there are they sure don't block outbound calls. Although I've had my cellphone take a message instead of ring while sitting in a ballpark, I assumed it was just cuz of excess circuit use in the ballpark. You sure see enough people on cell phones in ballparks.
Ok, I'll get back on my meds now...
I don't know how true the Islamic materials part is - it was posted on NEIN, which is sort of like Debka - sometimes right on target and ahead of the pack, and sometimes raving. However, someone else said that the Islamic materials may have come from his search for a way to build a suicide vest, which is apparently a common feature of Muslim websites...
The bomb making stuff has been reported elsewhere, so it seems legit. Go to the NEIN website to see a picture of the special armored bomb cannister being taken away from his apartment, according to NEIN, laden with explosives.
Yes, he did. Mental ilness caused by Islam.
As with most stories, I found it here first on FR.
No, we can link to WND. They are one of the few 'net friendly sources that don't require an auto-excerpt, in fact.
I just duplicated your post. I searched for it while you were busy posting it. By the time mine went live, yours was already posted. Missed you by a couple of minutes.
I've done the same thing with wagglebee in the past. We tend to gravitate to the same content.
What is their agenda? Just curious. I'd never heard this before. Is it different from the agenda of the MSM that seems to be spiking this story?
Could be. My cell phone chirps when I lose coverage, then it returns.
>>
That way if they have a bomb, they can blow up alone. Is that rude?
<<
Great, simple and effective idea.
Just try getting it past the ACLU.
Hell, try it out on the ACLU.
Farah 's site is similar to Debka in reliability - Verify, Then Trust.
Yeah.....I've been wondering if/why a SUICIDAL person would do themselves in and leave all those valuable explosives untouched in his apartment.
I read somewhere that one of the warning signs of a suicidal person is that, in addition to the other signs, they start giving their possessions away.
Actually, that particular footage was shown on local news (carrying off the bomb materials). You're right about the source of the Islamic materials information, and folks can give it as much weight as they like. I kind of like seeing all the info out there and letting people decide which parts don't work, and which parts do.
I kind of figured that out, but offered a stage whisper for the studio audience. ;^)
I'm not discounting theories here, but today's paper is the more likely judge of whether it is being suppresed. By the time it happened on Saturday, Sunday's papers were pretty much put to bed. If it showed up in Sunday's papers it probably would just be a short story.
* Do not pluck grey hairs [dyeing is recommended]
* Get rid of those braid extensions and hair pieces!
* Clip the moustache and nails, etc, within 40 days
* Women should not put all her hair up on the top of her haid like a camel hump. She may put it up at home as long as some hair lays on her neck still, but not when leaving the house in hijab where the hump can be seen to be under the hijab and drawing attention to her hair.
* While doing salah [prayers], a man should not have his hair braided or pulled back in a knot
* Comb your hair from the right side first
* Destroy your clipped nails and hair after cutting it by collecting it and burying it. It is not a sin if you don't destroy your hair, but it is preferable.
* A woman should not have a hairstyle that resembles a man's hairstyle.
* Do not imitate the hair styles or colors of the Jews and Christians; do the opposite!
