Moby's anti-Bush tricks

One of Sen. John Kerry's celebrity supporters is ready to pull out all the stops to get him elected. Republicans are shrieking over a suggestion by rocker Moby that Democrats spread gossip about President Bush on the Internet.

"No one's talking about how to keep the other side home on Election Day," Moby tells us. "It's a lot easier than you think and it doesn't cost that much. This election can be won by 200,000 votes."

Moby suggests that it's possible to seed doubt among Bush's far-right supporters on the Web.

"You target his natural constituencies," says the Grammy-nominated techno-wizard. "For example, you can go on all the pro-life chat rooms and say you're an outraged right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion.

"Then you go to an anti-immigration Web site chat room and ask, 'What's all this about George Bush proposing amnesty for illegal aliens?'"

Moby didn't claim that he believed the abortion story.

(snip)

Republican National Committee spokeswoman Christine Iverson likened Moby's proposal to "dirty campaign tactics we're already seeing from John Kerry."

"His campaign was willing to use these kinds of voter suppression tactics against members of his own party in Iowa and New Hampshire," Iverson says. "John Kerry is a hypocrite. He pledged to run a clean campaign. Then he uses the lowest form of gutter politics to impugn his opponents, Democratic and Republican. It's unfortunate but this is probably just the beginning of the kind of tactics we're going to be seeing from John Kerry in the months to come."

Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said, "I doubt that Moby was suggesting anybody suppress the vote. We did not use any dirty tactics against any candidate.

Remember this blast from the past?

We're being punked, folks. There are a bunch of MoveOn types trying to start a stampede in the conservative movement and there are some folks who should know better who have already been spooked. It's easy to understand why twits like Buchannen or Kristol would turn on and attack the President, but there are a lot of folks who should know better who are piling on for no good reason.

Keep your powder dry. Don't let them channel the argument before there's ANY information out there. Just take a deep breath and learn to listen and winnow the wheat from the chaff.

Remember, grasshoppers, this is Shinola.

Love your post! KUDOS!

I have never known of a man who cares MORE about the character of people and less about popularity polls that GW. Ever.

I trust this leader because he models what he believes and he knows how to stay the course.

He has courage under fire.

I'd like some of that stuff...LOL!

"but there are a lot of folks who should know better who are piling on for no good reason."

No good reason, like failing to nominate a proven constitutionalist judge while instead putting out an unknown and saying "trust me"?

No good reason, like dingy harry reid fawning over her?

Excuse me while I go flip a few cartwheels to celebrate this incredible choice of an unknown commodity being appointed to an almost lifetime position on the nation's highest court.

Have you read some of the "freepers" postings today? Way too many newbies threatening to vote for Hillary, or hide under the covers for the next 3 years because of the Mier nomination. It's really pretty hysterical. I don't believe for a second all of these people are true freepers.

"...and you must think freepers are idiots."

Frankly I see nothing in Phsstpoks' post that would indicate this as his/her opinion. Phsstpok is merely advocating a "look before you freak out" approach. Sort of a think before you type view. Good advice, don't you agree?

Chiche-o-rama. Allow me to add one: Bush is playing chess, everyone else is playing checkers.

Yes, and if it's anything like it usually is, then the first two weeks of the MSM's news will be all hype, lies and innuendo. The truthful information will come later.

They may not all be FReeper, but to expect people to bow down and glorify Miers because Bush Says so is asinine. Nobody has defended her based on her own merit. It's alway "If she's good enough for Bush, she's good enough for me." Or, "She's a Christian. So she must be a great pick."

Blind trust is dangerous. Remember daddy Bush...."Read my lips....? Now it's Baby Bush...."In the Thomas/Scalia mold." I'm disgusted.

Cliche-o-rama.

Well, um, YEAH! That was kinda the intent of the "shinola" comment. ;^>

Allow me to add one: Bush is playing chess, everyone else is playing checkers.

Never bring a knife to a gun fight. Close only counts in horse shoes, hand grenades and thermonuclear devices. We could go on, but I think we're on the same wavelength here.

I'm not saying I'm yet satisfied with Ms Miers, but if Buchanen and Kristol are already screaming then I'm inclined to wait for cooler heads. There are lots of other folks, Ann Coulter and the guys at Powerline, who have also joined in on the Mier's bashing, but the Powerline folks are beginning to make "hold on just a sec" noises. Ann's been pissed at this White House for some time. Either that or she's on the damndest disinformation campaign I've ever seen.

And before anyone complains

Nobody has defended her based on her own merit.

I guess you couldn't pick up Houston talk radio this afternoon when the former Texas Supreme Court justices were calling in and the law professors in town who have known her were making their opinions known.

Well I didn't post it in breaking news, did I? ;^>

I wanted to remind people that there is an element of the left that intentionally posts on forums like ours with disinformation, or true information but with their spin put on it. It's like Rush's seminar callers. I didn't want it to be a TOTAL vanity, so I went and found one of the original articles from when Moby said this publicly.

They now do all they can to get us to "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."

I tend to agree, it would be easy enough to do. A couple dozen DU-Lu's and a couple dozen "sleepers" (see also "tepid") and some chicken little for flavor... Viola! massive panic attack at FR central.

You don't think so?? Count todays ZOT!'s and over-the-edge posts about SCOTUS nominee Harriet Miers

Unknown to you. Your nutz if you think she's unknown to the person who nominated her. Get a grip.
