Moby's anti-Bush tricks

One of Sen. John Kerry's celebrity supporters is ready to pull out all the stops to get him elected. Republicans are shrieking over a suggestion by rocker Moby that Democrats spread gossip about President Bush on the Internet.

"No one's talking about how to keep the other side home on Election Day," Moby tells us. "It's a lot easier than you think and it doesn't cost that much. This election can be won by 200,000 votes."

Moby suggests that it's possible to seed doubt among Bush's far-right supporters on the Web.

"You target his natural constituencies," says the Grammy-nominated techno-wizard. "For example, you can go on all the pro-life chat rooms and say you're an outraged right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion.

"Then you go to an anti-immigration Web site chat room and ask, 'What's all this about George Bush proposing amnesty for illegal aliens?'"

Moby didn't claim that he believed the abortion story.

(snip)

Republican National Committee spokeswoman Christine Iverson likened Moby's proposal to "dirty campaign tactics we're already seeing from John Kerry."

"His campaign was willing to use these kinds of voter suppression tactics against members of his own party in Iowa and New Hampshire," Iverson says. "John Kerry is a hypocrite. He pledged to run a clean campaign. Then he uses the lowest form of gutter politics to impugn his opponents, Democratic and Republican. It's unfortunate but this is probably just the beginning of the kind of tactics we're going to be seeing from John Kerry in the months to come."

Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said, "I doubt that Moby was suggesting anybody suppress the vote. We did not use any dirty tactics against any candidate.

True. I guess this is more for the newbies around here. I'm certainly aware of the infiltration from the leftist goobers onto this site, posing as angry conservatives.

They may not all be FReeper, but to expect people to bow down and glorify Miers because Bush Says so is asinine.

And we are to take your word for it since you are a FReeper? Your sign up date is Feb 2, 2005, right? I've read your posts. I don't see anything in any of them to tell me that you're a FReeper.

And I'm not "defending" her. I'm not saying 'trust Bush.' I AM saying that anyone who has made up their mind in 12 hours based on the hysterical rantings that have been raining down on us is a complete idiot.

Wait. Learn patience. Learn some facts, not wild speculation and total BS. Anyone who can't endorse that position isn't worth wasting time on.

Thanks for the post. I've been hanging around a couple of years, and I've never seen a day like this.

I been defending Bush all day, mainly because I believe he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

She is a question mark to us, but he definitely knows her.

I think he has thrown the Dems the ultimate curve ball, not a limited paper trail, but a nonexistent one. George Bush has always made good choices in his appointments (except for the HS guy). I cannot see him abandoning his base.

Sometimes you just got to have faith.

I don't believe for a second all of these people are true freepers.

They will slip up and get smoked eventually. Moby is no Bob Schrum... or if we are lucky, maybe he is!

I finally realized the significance of this thread after I posted my inital post. :) While a dated article, it's timely. My take is that it gives a heads up to the possibilities of future leftist infiltrations onto FR, especially for the newer FReepers who recently signed up. :)

Bush is playing chess, everyone else is playing checkers.

I like that line, strategery on display.

Maybe Stevens will decide to retire because he thinks Bush nominees aren't that bad after all, one can hope.

I still think odds are even that the Sp Prosecutor in the Wilson fiasco could indict Wilson, Plame and others at the CIA for conspiring to LIE to the nation. Remember the Senate Intelligence committee said Wilson lied in his public statements and his book about what he really found out in Niger.

Bush ain't running again...!

Ha! Since he was "selected not elected," he's still eligible to be elected to two more terms!

--Unknown to you. Your nutz if you think she's unknown to the person who nominated her. Get a grip.--

Uh huh. And we're supposed to just trust his judgement blindly?

Like how we're supposed to trust his judgement on border security and illegal immigraiton?

Oh, I should wait for the arrogant circle of conservatives who are a) miffed they don't have a bloody fight immediately on their hands to provide them face time and copy or b) unhappy to learn they don't have the influence they claim or c) have revealed themselves to be no different than the phony intellectuals who populate the left and know better than all others?

I really despise a "FReeper" who uses a 'Daddy Bush' vs. 'Baby Bush' argument. It's BUSH's pick until you are elected, genius. Stamp your feet a few more times and you will be the same as the DUmocrat DUmpster divers.

You don't have to trust anything, it doesn't matter. Get it.

It looks like we are all going to have to exercise patience to learn where she stands on anything. Because we are not going to know anything about her until she is deciding cases on the Supreme Court. Hopefully, she will be a justice in the Scalia/Thomas mold. It's just too bad we have to wait and see.

uh, yes it does. Because there's still a role for the people: If they are sufficiently upset, they can contact their senators, who in their 'advise and consent' role, can keep her from getting on the bench.

Get it??
