I never presume about who's using medication, but he sure sounds like he's been up all night. Almost dazed. He's repeating stock phrases, sometimes pertinent ones, sometimes not.

The President says that by expanding the federal govt and increasing spending on social welfare and entitlement programs, he remains a conservative.

I think ALL conservatives would disagree with him on this opinion. A new definition for "conservative" isn't in the cards.

When Bush says, I've never spoken to Harriet Miers about her opinion of the abortion issue, I say Mr.President you can't be serious. No one with half a brain believes such a statement.

I think its a matter of what GWB knows about Miers faith and how she won't change. I know my wife could be surrounded by all the high-minded law folks or otherwise intelligentsia for years and her faith and decisions based upon that faith would be as strong if not stronger. I think decisions of people like Souter are based upon their own intellect, which can be corrupted over time, but decisions by people like Miers would be a combination of intelligence and faith, the sort that won't be shaken or corrupted. So I am full on board the Miers nomination now, after being wholly against it.

Yes, a sterling example of people appointed just because they were BillyBob's friends.

If she's being appointed just because she's the President's friend, then it's wrong. I just don't that's the case.

It started with internet. Anyone can be anyone online. We have lots of dims on here who say they supported President Bush, blah blah blah. I can see through their typing. It comes out in their remarks. Not to worry. Hollywood, msm and rock stars, do not count for Middle America. This is the man who I stand behind now and to the end. They like to call us kool-aid drinkers, well so be it. I know him and know he is the man we hired to do the job.

I don't see any proof that this woman will not get the job done. Just because he didn't appoint Ann Coulter, I'm not going to give myself a wedgie.

Never have more sensible words been posted.

Thank you, gortklattu, for a ray of hopeful light in this bewildering morass of pessimism.

The fact that he has to, says much. The fact that he didn't KNOW he would have to says it ALL. A true conservative President would have KNOWN this.

Geez, why don't we run the amazing Kreskin in '08

At least he could read your mind!!

Just listening to the variety of questions on so many different issues tells how tough the presidents job is. I couldn't handle it.

Really? I'd bet I could do a better job. Of course some wont like this statement. Too bad.

You do need a law degree to be Solicitor General but not Supreme Court Justice. It's kinda like you can be elected Pope without being a Roman Catholic priest, in theory anyway.

lol! I guess the self-congratulatory ones paid to come up with stupid questions.. are considering themselves "progressive" for not asking President Bush what type of "shorts" he wears. Oh, WOOHOO! (chuckling)

the White HOuse reporters are being very respectful today! And President Bush is doing a GREAT JOB!! He's relaxed, he's expansive, and he even has a few good quips.

BRAVO Mr. President!!!

If you use that standard, there is no way to evaluate any candidate for any job. I guess you would say that the only thing that matters is that Bush loves her. Sorry. I love the POTUS, but that dog won't hunt.
