Boy we have a lot of cynics today. Another R behind a Representative's name is obviously a good thing. Don't spin it otherwise. Remember that Ronald Reagan was a Democrat for the first half of his life until he saw the light and I think he turned out pretty well. The converts are usually the most loyal.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? We don't need no stinking RINOs.

I have a question. How far into this term of service is he? If he is at the end of his current term, I don't see a problem with him changing affiliations, but if he is at or near the beginning of his term, it bothers me because he ran on an idealogical platform and was elected because of it. To change now is to void the votes of everyone who was part of his electorate. I had the same misgivings when Jeffords changed his political status for the same reasons. If this is at or near the end of his current term, then I don't have that problem because he will be running on a new idealogical platform, and his electorate will have the opportunity to accept or reject that platform at the ballot box.
