MIERS FOUND CHRIST, TURNED REPUBLICAN

By 1979, Harriet Miers, then in her mid-30s, had accomplished what some people take a lifetime to achieve. She was a partner at Locke Purnell Boren Laney & Neely, one of the most prestigious law firms in the South.

But she still felt something was missing in her life.

The NEW YORK TIMES is set to splash the "something" on Page Ones on Wednesday, newsroom sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

It was after a series of long discussions with Nathan Hecht, a junior colleague and sweetheart, that led her to a decision that many of the people around her say changed Miers life.

"She decided that she wanted faith to be a bigger part of her life," Hecht said. "One evening she called me to her office and said she was ready to make a commitment," to accept Jesus Christ as her savior and be born again, Hecht said. Excellent. And check this out:

Miers once owned a .45-caliber revolver, a gift from a brother who was worried about her safety when she lived alone in Dallas, says Judge Nathan Hecht of the Texas Supreme Court, who has known Miers for 30 years and has dated her.

"It's a huge gun - he wanted to be sure she stopped the guy," Hecht said in a telephone interview. The judge recalled one Sunday afternoon driving out to the country, setting up tin cans on a dirt road and trying to teach Miers how to shoot.

John 3:3

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

I hope she is for real and God Bless her.

"This is precisely what America need's on the Supreme Court."

I would have thought that someone who has dedicated their life to preserving the original intent of the constitution is precisely what we need on the supreme court, but oh well.

It didn't yesterday at this forum when it was pointed out to them.

I haven't been around much today, but it does look like the rhetoric has calmed down somewhat, though.

Bless her heart. I'll never forget when this prodigal son came home. It changed the way I looked at a lot of things.

This smell like a trap from Rove. First the news gets out. Everyone whips themselves into a frenzy then BAMM! The real story comes out. I love it when Rove does this.

If there's one thing that simply pushes leftists over the edge, it's conservative "born again", Christians.

"Will it get conservatives off her case?"

Will she show that she believes in the constitution as it is written?

Sorry, this just comes across as an attempt to get the criticism of miers to be toned down. The administration is feeling the heat from their base because of this pick, and they're trying to to placate fears now.

Would have been easier just to nominate someone whose real beliefs are there for all to see. But instead we see the result of 'strategery'.

Her judge-friend also says that she treats the Constitution just like she does the Bible- what is says is what it means.

What is the original intent of the Bible? And what is the original intent of the Constitution?
