"Not much is know about Meir as of yet .. but they are throwing her out the window before giving Miers a chance to be known"

Maybe because we are the vetrans of the "Give O'connor, Kennedy, Souter a chance" movement and damned tired of discovering we were saddled with "RINOS in Elephant's clothing"

Believe me, we would like to be wrong.

However our good "Hopes" are burned.

All I am suggesting is to hear her speak and find out more about her before we throw her under the bus

If she is a bad choice .. it will come out

No thanks. I like Mike Rosen but Annie sounded like a spoiled petulant child on Hannity & Colmes last night. I don't need more of that.

Reasoned criticism of this pick is justified but Coulter's premise that the president chose Miers to get even with conservatives is ridiculous and should be embarrassing to her.

In the interview they talk about other subjects as well and take a few calls from Rosen listeners.

She will have her chance at the senate hearing.

I hope ours fears are just phamtoms of no substance but my head tells me otherwise.

There seems to be something in the air of Washington that softens conservatives views once they've cut connections with their grassroots.

Maybe the EPA can test the air and sterlize it.

Did you hear Ann on Hannity and Colmes last night? Saying stuff like "Bush hates conservatives" and "I think he just wants to go back to Crawford". Then carrying on like an elitist snob about Miers. I was extremely disappointed and now see her in a different light. Same goes for many of the "conservative" pundits who have been piling on and throwing daggers at the President.

Why is it more important to have a knock down fight??

I clearly stated why. But, for your convience here it is again:

Peace follows war, not negotiations. We need to beat the crap out of them in order to bring a bit of peace to our political system. We can do just that right now, and we shouldn't be afriad of mixing it up. GWB looks afraid.

I thought it was important to have a Conservative on the bench

It is. and I will be pleased if this 'faith based' nominee is just that. I do have a lot of faith in GWB, but it's being strained.

I too was once an Ann Coulter fan but that has changed over the past few months. She has degenerated into a publicity-seeking, "say anything for shock value", caricature of what she used to be. Sadly I have relegated my talking Ann Coulter doll to the attic. I have no respect for opinions that are as off-base and immature as hers.

I never claimed we had to roll over to the Dems and I have no problems with taking on the Dems

I just don't understand why having a knock down fight with them is more important then appointing a conservative who will follows the constitution to the USSC

Ann is more concerned with fighting

I think you're misreading her. I didin't hear the interview, but my impression is that a good knock down drag-out fight is more likely to get us a better nominee. I agree with that.

Our side looks weak, and we,ve pick a nominee that will first avoid a fight, and second be a conservative nominee. That's ax-backwards thinking.

We need an in-your-face, and up-yours nominee. THEN we'll start getting tax-cuts, oil drilling, new refinerys, nuculear power and all the things that come to winners.

As it is, we are in line to get all the things that come to losers. I'm pi$$ed, cuz we deserve better.

Your thinking is too small.

but they are throwing her out the window before giving Miers a chance to be known

That's the whole point.

There is no way to review, look at, assertain, consider, read, discover, or otherwise find out about Harriet Miers' views - other than to have someone guess and then claim to know.

With other Judicial candidates, you have past decisions and other writings with which to determine with near certainty what they believe.

I hear people say, "just wait for the hearings."

That is bunk. Hearings are all about vagueries and platitudes, with canned answers that reveal little or nothing.

I admire Harriet Miers. I like Harriet Miers. I am happy she found peace in being a born again Christian, as have I.

It's just that her temperament and her views on critical issues have not been challenged by her current duties.

Often people THINK they feel a certain way about issues, but then they change when confronted with the awsome power to make decisions affecting real people and real lives.

Kinda too much anti-Bush for me. Calling to Impeach Bush is hurting her credibility with me. I am strongly against Bush's way of doing a lot of things but she is a little over the top in this interview.

Now if she would say something constructive like, "Lets support this or that person for '08", that I can handle. Who knows, maybe Ann is going to run for elected office.
