Kitty Mittens, it is great to see a post from you. I was praying along with the many other FReepers for you a while ago.
Yes, the old place was terribly noisy -- just ghastly. I never knew what would hit next. Here I've found no more screamers having neurotic episodes in the parking lot or the next unit, people above me dropping bowling balls or whatever at 3 AM, juvenile delinquents climbing up and down my patio wall for access to the apartment above, etc. I feel as though I came out of Egypt with this move. It was a lot worse at the old place than I described online.
I'm addicted to being near trees. I love them, always have. These provide a beautiful, practical buffer to the city noises, lights, and views. There is a lake / park nearby also.

You can ping me for something special, just put my name in alone in the "to" area.
I just wanted to be off of your three ping lists so my ping page will be smaller.
I'm pinging Dr. Zoo as I am sure his Institute of Phenomonology can probably come up with some kind of comprimize for this problem.

Well, if it's Long Walk Day, how about a Long Walk Poem?
Long Walk Day
Olduvai Gorge was a long time ago. Weve walked for quite a long way.
Weve picked up things as we walked about, some habits seem likely to stay.
Weve learned to stay together, protecting each other from harm,
The father defending his children, as long as theres strength in his arm.
The mothers will tend to their hurtings, and cuddle them up in the cold.
The healthy lend strength to weaker ones, and patiently stand with the old.
Weve gotten to places so hidden away that you had to be born there to find,
And we learned the hard lessons and followed the rules, and we keep them firmly in mind.
Our strength is in our joining, our glue the words we share,
All journeys may have some reward, coming homes beyond compare.
Our eyes may be looking outward, our heart is in the home,
And when we find the truth of that, there is no need to roam.

Had seen both stories before, but it was an adventure to just sit back and take them in again.
Great presentation, Dolly. Thanks for these "moving" stories.

Good job Dolly, the moving stories were so funny and it was nice getting to know these two better.
Back a few years ago our landlord had the power turned off our rental home the day we were moving into the new home we built while living there. We had stored most of our possessions in the basement of the rental home which had only ONE window on the door, so there we were with no lights, groping around in the dark. :(
Later in the day as I was moving some things over in our pull behind trailer, the axle on the rear locked up in a curve but luckily I was able to get onto the shoulder of the road without losing control of the vehicle.
Between those memories and your moving stories I feel convinced to never move again! lol

My Gracious!
The snap is in the Autumn air,
The crunch is underfoot,
The frozen rainbow sheds its flakes,
Too careless where theyre put!
The path is lost to multitudes,
Migrating as a group,
Eager-seeking shelter where,
They spy it, and they swoop!
They fill the corners of the yards,
They climb from gutters rushing,
To be the first ones digging in,
As others do the crushing.
All of a sodden, still they lie,
Their colors turned to camo,
Along with acorn shells nearby,.
Last Springs expended ammo.
Then earthworms do their slow unweave,
Unraveling shape and form,
Into the bowels of the undead world,
The nutrients are sequestered, warm,
Til nascent Spring sends forth her call,
Arise ye teeming minions!
Yeve been asleep since dreary Fall,
Arise! To Springs dominions!
Shyly climbing, green with shame,
The scattered portions cannot stop,
So once again they play the game,
Leapfrogging to the top!

Hi there, Tulip. How are you doing?
To: jtill
Hi there Ms. J.. possibility you may be having a "movin"
story of your own soon? Hopefully is will be easy & smooth.
Thanks for dropping by. I just got in. A VERY long day. My support group this PM went pretty well, I guess considering I felt very frazzled & unorganized getting there. Never did find the box w/tapes & a few other items. My literature was at church so that was good. 2 of the women have already lost weight & inches in the 2 weeks since our last class.
I am afraid that I ate everything that wasn't nailed down & my numbers are higher!
And of course afterward went out for dinner & "over did" it. But I did have a big hike with Oliver & new dog Toby in the afternoon while my neighbor was at his med appt that I drove him to. We found a large rugged section of one of Cleveland's metro parks & did a couple hour "river walk" until I got the call to "come get him". I found a couple "treasures", which most people would consider junk. Treasures & beauty are in the eyes of beholder to be sure.
I wanted to add more of chairs comments that he had posted on the thread that day, but the post was so long already that I decided not to do so..
Do you live near Mama_bear & Just Amy? Lots of California FReeper, many I see regularly at the Dose also.
