Geez...where to start. This was never an issue until the left made it so. They decided to continue litigation until a judgment was made in their favor. That's what makes this issue 'divisive'. They're demanding to win no matter what anyone else (or tradition or history) says. What is with liberals? If they decide not to say the pledge then fine. I don't like it but that's their choice. I'll choose to say it just as is with all the words. It's surprising how the party of choice to kill babies in the womb (and out) are so against any choices they don't favor. I don't think that occurs to them though.

I said it before and I'll say it again. In a way, I hope that Newdow outlives me. I want to be there when he comes face to face with the God he says doesn't exist.
Maybe if he goes first, St. Peter will let me see the replay.

Newdow also said there should possibly be some kind of a competition to come up with a new pledge How about Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuhrer? Worked for the Nazis, and they didn't believe in God either.

RE: Pledge of Allegiance
Mr. Newdow,
what gives you the right to speak for an entire nation?
What sacrifices have you made that even remotely gives you the right to call for this change?
Have you served your country? Have you served in an office of politics? have you done anything else by complain?
Sir just because you have and issue with the pledge does not give you the right to take it away from the rest of Americian s who not only say it, but say it proudly.
You have been a lawyer and a doctor, both professions that require a modicum on intelligence to conduct. So it stuns me that you can be so irrational on this point.
What is your suggestion to replace it?
You and the 9th circus court misuse the 1st amendment to further your case. you attempt to use it in a form the framers did not intend, and that is also why this case will fail at the Supreme court level.
If you do not appreciate the right that this country bestows upon its people and allows them to exercise them freely. (which by the way includes reciting the pledge in its current form.) There are several other countries where your type of thought is more acceptable... perhaps you should talk to fidel casto or hugo chavez... they like you mindset...
being a defender of this country and its constitution, I served to protect peoples right to speak, worship, and act upon their other freedoms as they wish... not to see fellow citizen misuse the Constitution to try to restrict others rights.
Mr. Newdow you are a wrong, your attempts to change the core of this country is wrong, and you will lose in the end. You will not even be a footnote to history.
IYAOYAS,
AW
P.s. pray (oh wait you don't) we never meet and have a discussion..I will take every point you have and turn the Constitution against what you are doing.

Sorry for the rant folks but I have had enough of this idiot trying to misuse and abuse the Constitution for his own communist leanings..

I guess he'd prefer this one:
I pledge allegiance
To the Federal Government
of the United Nations of Earth,
And to the wisdom of our leaders, in whom we trust,
One planet, under Kofi,
With prosperity and comfort for all.

It is "One nation under God" whether the atheists believe it or like it or not. It doesn't matter.
Rather I should say THEY don't matter.

"The whole point of the pledge was to unify the students, and it's not," Newdow said outside the hearing Wednesday. "(The pledge) has become divisive, not so much because it has been the atheists who have become discriminated (against), and they don't have so much of a voice"
What does he mean "they don't have so much of a voice"? The atheists have the entire main stream media and most of the Dem party as a voice

DAMN STRAIGHT!
At the FReep in Wash DC on 9/24 we said the Pledge. And when we got to this part, everybody yelled, "UNDER GOD!!!" as loud as they could. It was awesome and heart warming.
