ROBERT BORK CALLS THE HARRIET MIERS NOMINATION "A DISASTER" ON TONIGHT'S "THE SITUATION WITH TUCKER CARLSON"

SECAUCUS, NJ - October 7, 2005 - Tonight on MSNBC's "The Situation with Tucker Carlson," former judge and Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork tells Tucker Carlson the Harriet Miers' nomination is "a disaster on every level," that Miers has "no experience with constitutional law whatever" and that the nomination is a "slap in the face" to conservatives.

Following is a transcript of the conversation, which will telecast tonight at 11 p.m. (ET). A full transcript of the show will be available later tonight at www.tv.msnbc.com. "The Situation with Tucker Carlson" telecasts Monday through Friday at 11 p.m. (ET).

Miers is NOT a constitutional scholar.

Good

Both Mark Levin and Robert Bork recommended O'Connor and Kennedy to Ronald Reagan as reliable, conservative, "constitutional scholars."

Bork has said he thinks the 2nd amendment is an anachronism, while Harriet Miers considers it a fundamental individual right.

And remember, Bork had both Bill and Hillary in his law classes at Yale and praised them both as exceptional. I'm leaning towards Miers, more and more.

I guess you'd want a brain surgeon who wasn't even a doctor!!

Complete apples and oranges - Foolishness -

The fact is there are plenty in differing fields of life that can read and understand what was meant by our Founding Fathers (that is part of the brilliance of what they put together!).

The idea that we need only people out of a specific field telling us what our Founding Fathers thought is not only ridiculous...but against the very concepts they supported.

Ok, I'm convinced. Ann Coulter screaming, Kristol, Will, Krauthammer and now Bork. The woman is a disaster. An unmitigated NUCLEAR bomb. The plague of all plagues. A pandemic of the proportions of which we've never seen.

So. With all that said, what is to be done? Dump GW for the next three years? Elect leftist liberals into office?

Come on, I want an answer. I'm waiting....

Jen

Robert Bork - yet another one of the unappeasables. Why, I'll bet he never even supported Bush in the first place. Probably a pitchforker.

He's just another bashing whiner. And unappeasable... All these conservatives are actually liberals!

:o

Trouble is, she just might impress the Committee and make a decent SC Judge

Uh-huh. I can't wait until Sen. Hatch asks her about her views on original jurisdiction and substantive due process, and how she'd interpret the breadth of the Commerce Clause. That should be a hoot.

The answer is to defeat the nomination and force a better choice.

Your post demonstrates why the Republicans don't offer much more than the Democrats.

I can't wait for the show!

Its so rare to see conservatives spanking others, with fire in their eyes, smoke coming out their ears, I just may tape it.

That would be a good question for him.

"Do you think that Ruth is a better than Miers?"

I'm starting to have a riot watching all these self important intellectuals self destruct over the fact that some "peon" is going to be a Supreme Court Justice.

Your words constitute an admission that you have zero evidence - because if it was there, it would be easily linkable - that Bork supported the Ginsburg nomination.

An easy win for me.

Meirs just doesn't know the law and would soon be an embarrassment but comforting to her supporters based on her votes.

We really needed a rock solid proven conservative who was steeped in the law such as a Janice Rogers Brown.

Now we've got Miers. Everyone has their own opinion, my opinion is that she is a terrible pick and we had many who would have been much better. I think she's a wonderful person and a fine lady, but this is not the kind of job suited for on the job training.

I don't think Bork supported Ginsberg. In fact, he said just this summer that Ginsberg and Breyer are "activists, who are making up the Constitution, who are reaching results that have no plausible relationship to the actual Constitution."

That said, Bork thinks the 2nd amendment is an "anachronism." It was fortuitous that he did not have the presence of mind to shave off his Simon-Legree beard, and so was defeated for the Supreme Court.
