Suspended Viking accused of sexual assault

A suspended Minnesota Vikings player is the defendant in a civil suit filed today in Hennepin County District Court.

A 21 year old Richfield woman is accusing Onterrio Smith of sexual assault in another Viking’s apartment on June 12, 2004.

In an exclusive interview with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, the woman’s attorney spoke about the case and the victim.

“I think she’s a credible person. I’ve talked to her family members who saw her the night that it happened. I’ve seen the medical records. I think she’s believable,” said attorney Lori Peterson.

The victim alleges that she was drinking with Smith and another Vikings player when she passed out. She later woke up and said both players were on top of her. The woman has fetal alcohol syndrome.

Onterrio Smith was suspended when he was caught going through an airport with a whizzinator, a device used to beat drug tests.

Ex-Viking Ted Brown's Trial Moved To Stearns Co.

(AP) St. Cloud, Minn. The sexual assault trial of former Minnesota Vikings running back Ted Brown has been moved to Stearns County and is scheduled to begin in late September in St. Cloud, Minn.

Mille Lacs County District Court Judge Michael Jesse will preside.

Brown was indicted by a Mille Lacs County grand jury in late 2003 on first-and third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges after an incident at a team function on Lake Mille Lacs. He remains free on bail.

Brown is charged in a February 2003 incident during the Vikings' annual Arctic Blast event at Eddy's Resort. Prosecutors allege that Brown forced sex on an intoxicated woman who was unable to consent.

The incident was one of two during the Arctic Blast that led an investigation into sexual assault allegations. A separate grand jury investigated allegations that a different woman was assaulted after socializing with players in the hot-tub area of the motel. The grand jury did not issue an indictment in that incident, and the woman settled her claims with the team.

"Suspended Viking accused of sexual assault"

I'm so disappointed. Vikings and and those mango chutney eating cavemen star in the funniest tv commercials.

I love the Vikes. Their doing more to derail the stupid and perpetual stadium funding schemes here in MN than anything (or anyone) else. As long as they continue to advertise what criminal scum they are, they'll have NO allies (in either party) in the endless gambits to tax us for yet another new playpen.

These professional atheletes seem to have learned nothing over the last ten years. The first step when any of this crap starts to surface-HIRE ANNE LEWIS AND THE REST OF THE CLINTON TEAM. You will quikckly see the "Nuts and Sluts" defense put in to effect. In fact Tagliabue should put some of the Clintonistas on retainer.

Vikings' 2005 troubles continue

Last update: October 11, 2005 at 9:22 PM

Running back Onterrio Smith was suspended for the season by the NFL in June for violating the league's substance abuse policy, not long after he was caught with a drug-evading device known as the Whizzinator at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Receiver Kelly Campbell was arrested in February in Atlanta on suspicion of possession of marijuana and theft by receiving stolen property involving a handgun. Campbell, released by team last month, reached a deal to avoid a trial.

All-Pro defensive tackle Kevin Williams has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor domestic assault following his arrest in an Aug. 28 fight with his wife.

Offensive linemen Bryant McKinnie and Marcus Johnson were arrested Sept. 26 after refusing to leave Bobby and Steve's Auto World in Minneapolis. McKinnie and Johnson were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice. They have pleaded not guilty.

I wouldn't completely blame Tice, this has been a classless team for quite a long time now. I think you have to go back to Bud Grant era to find a Viking team worthy of respect.
