"Brutal" is subjective. If we were in Iraq or some other Islamic country, it wouldn't even be called a beating.

But since he's in the United States, can we call it "brutal"?

This is probably straight out of the Islamic wife-beating handbook. Pretty sick.

Maybe I'm not sensitive enough but it didn't seem all that brutal to me.

If the man had done nothing wrong, he wouldn't have been in that position, would he?

Looks pretty mild to me.
He was resisting arrest.

The most indicting aspect is the fact that the cops know they are doing wrong. Hiding the scene behind a horse, ordering cameras shut off. Police state tactics. Good police work does not need to be hidden. Any officer who thinks he needs to hide should not be carrying a badge.

Thats it? Thats what the big fuss is about? What a bunch of loons.
I liked the part near the end when the guy said he surrendered to them and they hit him in the back of the head and he started fighting and the girl said no, he started fighting a couple of minutes ago. Did he really? Yes, he did. Something like that. Check it for yourself.

Why would anyone in their right mind EVER want to go to New Orleans?

The complete video does make the arrest appear different; that guy clearly struggled and struggled to prevent the police from cuffing him, no question. I also suspect he was drunk, everyone else there was loaded. Why would a guy, after being told to turn around and put his hands behind his back then continue to fight the police by refusing to do what he is asked; refusing to allow yourself to be cuffed is resisting arrest. Also, I'm old school, I want there to be severe street justice when fighting the police; in Chicago back in the 40's/50's, you fought with the cops once, they beat you up, did it again and they put you in the hospital, third time and you went to the morgue. Sounds mean? Our cities were much, much safer back then.

It is hard to see exactly what is happening early in the confrontation because of the mounted officer running interference in front of the camera.
However, at every point that there is a clear view, it appears that the teacher was trying to discuss the situation. He doesn't appear confrontational or antagonistic.
The officer punching the back of the teachers head while he was cuffed and held by the others is CLEARLY over the top.

New Orleans cops !? I use the word cops lossely.
Did they stuff the guy in the back seat of their stolen limo !?
They even rough up one of the camera crew, being angry they got caught on tape.
I say sue the sob`s,own their homes, get them fired. Then hire some real men.

LOL. I'm reminded of Debbie Reynolds' comment on how things were when the Mob ran Las Vegas - "They never killed anybody who didn't deserve it."

What a bizarre comparison. So what do you call a brutal beating in the US?

I haven't been following this, but I've heard some of the details: Police say the guy was obviously drunk, very well spoken guy says he hasn't had a drink in years.
Why was there a camera there?

Get with it, Officers no longer wear Badges, they wear Shields.
(One is earned the other you hide behind)
