The parents of two students have filed reports against the players, and police said charges could be filed Tuesday.
"It started Saturday," a mother said. "One of the star players, his name was Bill Walker, he was the first one to put hands on my son. He hit him in the head."
The principal said she was aware of the trouble at a homecoming dance, and that she was going to work to resolve the issue Monday morning. But before she could act, a group of varsity basketball players allegedly tracked down one of the boys in gym class, a mother said.
"O.J. Mayo walked up to my son and put his hands on him and punched him, and the fight went on from there," she told Wagner.
The group also allegedly tracked down another boy in the halls of the high school, a mother said.
"(He was) chased by the varsity basketball team at North College Hill, where one of the students tried to push him over the rail," she said.
One student was sent to a hospital, Wagner reported.
The principal told News 5 that all students involved were sent home and that she is investigating.
A man who answered at Mayo's house denied Mayo attacked anyone, but said a boy has to defend himself.
Walker's guardian could not be contacted, Wagner reported.
Mayo is considered one of the country's best players. He was named Ohio's Mr. Basketball last season.
Mayo and Walker led North College Hill to the state title as sophomores last season. One of the mothers said she thinks that their accomplishments on the basketball court are getting the duo preferential treatment in the school building.
"Why is everybody protecting O.J. -- who is he?" she questioned. "He's no better than me."
I think I'll email my high school director and ask for a conversion # from ACT of 9, to the SAT. It'd be interesting to know the SAT conversion score.

He looks to be a tad bigger than your average four month removed sophmore.
Sounds like he'll fit in in the NBA.

I don't think he ever graduated. Magic went pro after his sophomore year. And Magic isn't a ghetto thug. He is very articulate and has done quite well for himself in business outside of basketball. Rather than invest in gold chains, he has opened up a restaurants and movie theaters in poorer communities on the very good theory that the best way to help lift a kid to a better life is a job, not a handout.
He might not have graduated but when he was on the T.V. basketball game, as their "color" m.c., he told his co-host that he had graduated.
He might not be from the ghetto but he sure sounded like it. He couldn't put two words together without some really sorry-ass gramatical error. For those who actually can speak English he sounded pretty bad, especially for a college grad. If he sounds articulate to you, especially on T.V., then he was reading from a prompter because trying to speak ad libbing, he sounds awful.
Nice guy. I know the discipline it takes to be a pro. But he got his "degree" from a university as a gift. He didn't earn it. You can BET that he didn't get into the restaurant business by himself. His degree WASN'T in business anyway. He undoubtedly had "front" experience and he provided his name. The restaurant business is very risky, with only a 3% profit. Restauants make their money with booze. That he is very generous and a good role model (notwithstanding the HIV/AIDS he got from his adultery) is known. I like the guy. This was not about bashing him. He is simply a product of our system.
My bone of contention is having the colleges as the ONLY path to the pros for these men. Colleges are NOT the place that pro teams should use as their FARM teams. That isn't the purpose of education.
Not all people are MEANT to go to college. One in four in this country graduates from a four-year institution. That means that the others who go shouldn't, especially when all they have to offer an EDUCATIONAL insitution is their skill with a ball -- not a book.
I don't know. That's a pretty hard name to spell.
I doubt anyone ever sat him down and said "Ovaltine, you have to learn how to study and make good grades". Basketball was going to make him a millionaire. Learning anything but that was a hinderance.
Too bad he is too stupid to stay out of trouble.
He will fit right in at UC.
Last summer I worked with OJ for a few days. It seemed to be a good kid. He WANTED to learn as much as he could and was very disciplined. He is a true talent and wasn't the typical loud-mouthed kid that dominates basketball.
Seeing all this shocks me.
That is exactly why it is not up to you to decide that! Athletic events at major universities actually fund the university, with the sales of their game tickets! Did you know that? And honestly, if you don't know the kid, you can't honestly call him a dirtbag! I could call you an IDIOT for the statements that you have put on this site, but I don't know you, but what I do know is that you seem to lack knowledge yourself! But thats not why I am replying to your post! Back to athletic scholarships, if they were to be taken away alot of kids from the "GHETTO" would be hurt, because for them unlike the kids outside of the ghetto, a good secondary education is hard to come by. Not all kids who go to college on athletic scholarships have the aspirations to go pro, for some it is a way for them to pay for school! And I think if they work that hard enough they do deserve it!!
Another thing...Does anyone know why the NCH basketball team beat those boys up? NO!! so shut the hell up!!They could have had a legitimate reason!!
I'm not familiar with ACT scores. What's a decent score? What's a perfect score?
Unconfirmed reports indicate that actually he has been attending 3rd grade classes....and was quite proud to having the biggest "Fitzgerald" in his class.
Magic's show was a bomb, but it was on for more than one show. It lasted a couple of months.
