you're right, but it's not grounds for a punishment, when was the last time you heard of some college student getting punished for saying something. Heck, if it's against bush or conservatives, they'll make the front page of the campus paper and get an A in the course.

If the student had called African-Americans "sub-human", you don't think he would have been punished? I agree with the previous poster who said that "sub-human" is a Nazi-like term. Once you start saying a group of people are less than human, then it allows for the kind of atrocities that occurred during the holocaust when in addition to millions of Jews, thousands of homosexuals were incinerated. I think the University should give the student the opportunity to apologize. If he does not, then expelling him is not an unreasonable action.
