Yeah I concur. Much as it pains me to say it. We have to be perfect. If people are screwing up, they need to be fired. No tolerance of obstruction of justice -- that was what we were all saying about Clinton too.

I do think that purjury, obstruction of justice, and lying to a Grand Jury should all be taken seriously and they are crimes. Almost everyone on Free Republic would have agreed a half-decade ago. Justice shouldn't be partisan and just because Bill Clinton got away with not only lying to a Grand Jury but also likely sexual harassment and rape (if not more, if you believe the worst conspiracy theories) does not mean we should excuse Republicans from purjury and so forth. Would we excuse a Bush or Cheney aid if they sexually harassed a woman or raped her, too, just because we think Bill Clinton got away with it? Two wrongs don't make a right and all that.

Please also note that this man will get his day in court and if he's innocent, hopefully he can prove it. If there is anyone we should be pointing fingers at, it's the mainstream media because they are the ones with the partisan double-standard.

Dude, you're such a troll.

Poll seems pretty accurate to me--with upwards of 70,000 votes, its hard to argue that this is unrepresentative of at least a large section of the American Internet-reading population (at least the broad middle ground that reads CNN).

Which is exactly where they get their skewed information. I'm willing to bet that most of those who voted actually think Plame was an undercover agent.

What's with some FReepers trying to smear the reputation of Valerie Plame--is that a diversionary tactic?

LOL! Smear her reputation?!? LOL! An anti-war zealot who used her position in the CIA and her husband to attempt to discredit the administration she worked for? Hope I don't get a reputation like that.

What's with some folks minimizing the seriousness of a charge of perjury? Where were those thoughts when Clinton was in trouble for perjury?

Hey, if the guy is guilty, nail him. If the administration was playing with classified or semi-classified information for political purposes, that is pretty darn serious--even if we can only get them on charges of perjury. It is our national security, after all and I don't think that being in the administration gives rights to use our nation's info like that.

That's just it. There was no crime. Plame was not covert nor had she been for some time. She had a CIA parking permit on her car for crying out loud. What are your thoughts on the Sandy Berger incident. You know, stealing classified documents from the archives to cover up for Clintons screw-ups. Oh, yeah, guess that wasn't on CNN.

The funny thing about CNN.com polls. If you vote against their own slanted position, the vote doesn't even tally. I checked the totals both before and after voting, and the numbers didn't even change.

I notice the comment you were responding too, and which I was hastening to disagree with, was pulled! Hum. Another great response wasted.

Well holy smokes. Yer on to somethin'!

I cleared my history and cookies, and then checked results "no" being at 16765. Then I voted. Tally moved not one number higher. I smell a rat. Thanks for the heads up.

I voted yes. If this prosecutor and grand jury felt Libby should be indicted, then indictments should go forward.

There is a presumption of innocence until Fitzgerald can prove otherwise.

If the allegations prove true and Libby is guilty, he has betrayed conservatives, his boss, his President, the Reagan Revolution and anyone who calls himself a FReeper.

Yeah, maybe my FReeperness leaks through the keyboard, into the network and gets picked up by their new FReeperNator 5000 before it can tally my vote. ;-)

Done, its currently 80% for indictments, not surprising for CNN.

I guess I'm going to get to use that response after all. This was a a STUPID investigation in the first place. The initial premise was even erroneous. Plame was neither a "covert" agent, nor was she serving "outside the United States"---both of which are essential for an investigation in the first place! Plame, and her lying, Washington "hanger-on" husband, are nothing but petty, Democrat political hacks, attempting to pose as "government officials"-----and doing a poor job at that!

If the CIA was attempting to cover their "collective" backsides for their poor performance, guess what, when this thing goes to court and Libby's attorneys' get hold of it, Plame, Wilson, AND the CIA are apt to be very sorry, indeed!!!

Like I said, the "investigation" was stupid and error fraught from the beginning. The prosecutor even admitted that he couldn't prove the initial charge. What a crock---and waste of OUR money! Martha Stewart revisited.

Hey FReepers, in my post above as michaeljeremyjones, I expressed my moderate and non-profane views about the Plame affair on the board. Within 15 minutes, I was called a "troll" by L98Fiero, had my posting privileges revoked AND my original post was deleted so none of you could read or respond to it. Sound a little like Stalinist Russia to anyone? I am amazed by how quickly the powers that by on this board responded. Geez.

Fortunately, I remembered that I had a second screenname from before, so I logged on with that and posted this so you all would know.

You are not hearing an uncensored viewpoint on this site and you are not being given the opportunity to freely converse and change minds.

Anyway, I will probably stop reading this site because it is clear that it is not a "marketplace of ideas" but rather a tightly controlled locus for just a few views. Plus, I have to study. SEE YA!!!!!!!! Thx for the good times while they lasted . . .

Thanks for the post! I was attempting to post something similar when the "drivel" got pulled. Thanks, again, for a very concise argument to a "think-with-your-heart-not with-your-head" post.

Thank God, you obviously are posting on the wrong site anyway. You might try DU, they really go for mindless drivel.
