BAMBERG, Germany (AP) - A US Army chaplain was sentenced yesterday to five years in prison after pleading guilty at his court-martial to three counts of forcible sodomy against enlisted men.

Capt Gregory Arflack, 44, a Roman Catholic priest serving as a chaplain with the 279th Base Support Battalion, also admitted three counts of committing an indecent acts, two of fraternisation with enlisted service members, and one count of conduct unbecoming an officer.

Judge US Army Col R Peter Masterton ordered him dismissed from the Army and that he forfeit all benefits in addition to the prison term to be served at Ft Leavenworth, Kansas. Arflack showed no emotion as the sentence was read out.

Maybe they were intoxicated? What about a date rape drug? Possibilities, anyway...

The only other thing I can think of is that he threatened them somehow. How about...I know or I believe that you are gay, soldier, and if you don't go along with this, I will see to it that you are dismissed from the military. See, we don't even know the orientation of the victims here, do we?

I guess he COULD have brandished a weapon at them, like a gun or a knife...

re :How does that happen? He raped them? Where's the fight in these soldiers? Something's missing...

I agree

Another priest prefers having sex with males.

Too bad civilian priest/molesters weren't dealt with the same way. The church would have been much better off today.

I don't believe it's possible for a 44 year old man to "force" sodomy on an enlisted man.

Reading between the lines, I'd say they really felt it was an abuse of a position in authority over the enlisted men. When detected, this was the prosecutor's analysis of what sex in that environment might "mean."

My guess is that those enlisted men didn't struggle at all in this so-called "forcing."

Note that I have in the above not excused the behavior of the chaplain at all.

We don't know what happened, but several scenarios are possible. It's possible the priest tried to force sodomy on soldiers that he suspected or knew were gay and could have threatened them with disclosure if they didn't cooperate. Obviously one of them reported him.

Will he be stripped of his clerical status by the Catholic church?

I doubt that he will. Ordination is a sacrament, and there is probably a requirement for some level of rehabilitation.

Obviously, this is the chaplain's first offense (public) of this variety, or he never would have made it through the security clearance background check.

Since it's the first time, the church would have to give him the rehab opportunity.

BTW, I'm not Catholic, so those are my guesses based on experience.

Also, if the priest had threatened an outing, then it still wouldn't measure up to the way the story was written. "Forcing" sodomy gives the impression of physical overpowering.

If he's allowed to remain a priest, next time he might practice sodomy on a BOY.

Since I'm not catholic, I'm hesitant to give you a definitive answer. My guess is that they'd first attempt some form of rehab.

I've pinged 2 very knowledgeable catholics who probably have a better grasp on this.

Throughout the West homosexuals are being given their "Rights" now we see what they do with those "Rights." The Roman Church temporized with a pathological subset and it blew up in their face. Let this be a lesson to other institutions such as government, schools, business etc. In the past these people were not made outcast without reason.

"...forcible sodomy against enlisted men"

What kind of soldiers are we turning out if some priest can prey on them?

I think you are right.

To build a bit on your theory, he had his little buddies, and then approached a soldier who didn't play that game. He reported the incident, a 15-6 was held, his buddies were called in and they covered their butts (pun intended) by claimed they were not willing participants.

Homosexual Agenda Ping.

Would be interesting to get more of the facts. But even without a single detail more than the above, it is clear as a diamond that:

1. Homosexuals should not be in the military. The rule should be Do ask, and if the answer is wrong, show them the door.

2. Same with the priesthood. Do ask, and if the answer is wrong, show them the door.

The problem is that even some who know that homosexuality is disordered, are afraid of the homosexual activists and their supporters in the MSM (but I repeat myself). The truth is that homosexuality is unnatural, unhealthy, immoral, disordered, and CAN BE HEALED. And those with homosexual desires should not be treated as though they are perfectly normal. Some jobs, positions and so on should NOT be open to homosexuals.

Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist. Oh, and tell DirtyHarryY2K too. (He's been busy lately.)
