The early defection of two of the group's Republicans, Mike DeWine of Ohio and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, could hurt if Democrats decide to attempt a filibuster of Alito, the New Jersey jurist Bush nominated Monday to replace retiring Sandra Day O'Connor.

Dya think?? Wonder if they noticed what Dem Ben Nelson said about Alito today. They may not be able to even Fillibuster Alito must less survive the Consitituional Option.

Speaking for myself, I'm cautiously optomistic that Alito will be confirmed. Democrats are backing away from their earlier filibuster threat.

Of course. They can count to 50. They'll never filibuster if they think it will be nuked. Their best bet is to reserve it for after 2006, in hopes of the GOP losing a seat or two. Then they can filibuster again, consequence free.

THIS IS BS. Dewine and Lindsay both said that if there was a filibuster tey would support the Nuclear Option.
