how is MIL?

Thanks for asking about her, Dolly. Mom K has been better the past few days. She's regaining a bit of her mobility....very slowly. Her release date from the rehab center is the 10th, but she will need round the clock assistance and continued rehab for about eight weeks. She has decided that she does not want to go home with a 24/7 in-home caregiver. She wants to go to an assisted living facility just down the street from us. It is a wonderful place, with levels of care tailored to the resident's needs. They have lots of activities and provide just a lovely environment for the seniors. Many of her church friends are living there. Her life style, which pretty much consisted of sitting in her recliner and watching tv all day, won't really change much. We will still visit her, of course, and I will take her out for her Friday appointments and lunch and we will take her out for dinner on Sunday, as we always have. I hope she doesn't have to get on a waiting list before we can move her over there, we will find out today.

The rehab center, where she is now, encourages family to bring pets to see the patients, so we took "the Chach" out to see her last weekend. It seemed to perk her up. :-)

awe.. Lori, thanks for pix of jeff's mom & your baby.. (my oh my, that little one is getting big(esp the ears!!!)

Hope the transition to assisted living goes well & she just might liven up with the extra stimulation of people. I know it would be good for my mom.. but she would miss her home, pets & view of the yard, natl park.

Will your mom return to her home after the 8 - 10 week rehab?

my mom has identical glasses! and I do too.. my old ones which are perfect for the computer screen!

She looks like she is doing great Mama_Bear. What a cute dog. I have a Grandfather who lives at a assistant living. He loves it. What a great time he has and the friends he has made has him very happy. When I call, he's always on his way to do something. He's in his late 80's. :)
