Paris/France burns, Live thread (night #10)

Posted on 11/05/2005 9:39:59 AM PST by Dane

It is now getting dark in Paris and in all of France(appx. 6:40 PM Paris Time), and if there are any French FR lurkers(lurquers), this may be the thread to post your reports about any further violence.

It seems the French govt. is impotent in it's response to what seems are jihadist thugs and it seems the American media has put a news blackout filter to what is really happening, so as not to embarass their heroes, Chirac et al.

So any news reports or personal reports from what happens tonight are welcome, and don't worry about broken English, reports in French are welcome also, I have no doubt someone can translate.

I really dread putting up a live thread about such a matter, but it seems that the American MSM is following French govt. orders to play down to what it seems is an insurrection.

The islamic scum are simply testing the will of the frogs.  What they've verified now is that apeasement and surrender are the order of the day.  France will be ruled by sharia in the very near future.  A tumor in the heart of europe.

With regard to the impotence of the government of France, I am sure they must be weighing the use of force. But once they head down that road, this could quickly either end the riots or significantly expand the blaze.

I hope this is the end of the road for the Chirac/Villepin crowd and a new beginning for the Sarkozy side. If Sarkozy doesn't gain now, I am afraid darker forces (Le Pen) will increase in power.

/money quote:

"The Muslim uprising of the last week is a challenge to the half century of policy that has brought France to this point. Polices which deprecated European culture, frowned on a national identity, lowered the birthrate, created a welfare state, imported 'guest workers', promoted mindless multiculturalism and relied on 'international' treaties for protection -- all articles of Leftist faith -- are now facing the judgment of history; and worse, the verdict of Islam. It would be supremely ironical if the European Left, the 'vanguard of history', required for its future survival the very things it had set out to destroy."

Good idea.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we have some on-site reports.
Something needs to be done since it's obvious the usual suspects such as AP, AFP, Reuters et al. are a day late and a euro short.

I have to go back to the BUSH WINS! threads of 00 and 04 and the RatherGate posts to find threads as purely enjoyable and satisfying as these Paris Burning From Islam posts are.

/more from Belmont:

"The events in France may turn out to have a greater strategic impact than September 11. French policies, however maddening, had the virtue of serving as the control case to the American experiment of attempting to reform the Islamic world. The latter acknowledged, however shyly, that it was facing an aggression which had to be met at the root; which had to be resolved by building viable societies in Islamic homelands. The former, and France in particular, maintained there was nothing that temporizing and appeasement, in one form or another, could not solve. What events in France have done is discredit the liberal recipe so badly that even those who are not prepared to admit that American policy may have been right must now root around for an alternative theory."

I bet the rest of the EU is more than just a little concerned that this could erupt in their own countries at any moment. I look at France as a testing ground.

You mean they haven't been able to retreat yet?
