Abortion Notification Law in California Gets Celebrity Backing

LOS ANGELES, November 7, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Top celebrities released strong endorsements for the YES on 73 campaign today during the final push for Prop 73, the "Parents' Right to Know" initiative on California's special election ballot next Tuesday, November 8th. Ben Stein, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Patrick Warburton, Laura Ingraham, and Patricia Heaton are all running radio spots in California encouraging support for Prop 73.

If passed, Proposition 73 will prevent an abortion from being performed on a minor girl until 48 hours after her parent or guardian is notified.

Patricia Heaton says, "As a parent, I can't think of anything more important than the welfare of our children. Proposition 73 will ensure that parents can help their young daughters if they become pregnant." Dr. Laura Schlessinger says, "I already voted YES on Prop 73 through an absentee voting form. I urge everyone who cares about children to do the same." (see here for Heaton's full statement: http://www.yeson73.net/content/view/39 )

Famed actor and talk show host Ben Stein says that while "current California law requires parental permission for children to get tattoos . . . even aspirin", the current law allows children to get an abortion, "a potentially life threatening procedure without her parents even knowing." That's why, he says, he's joining millions of Americans in supporting prop 73. (hear Stein's full radio spot here: http://www.yeson73.net/audio/ben-stein1.mp3 )

Actor Patrick Warburton, concerned for the safety of his children, especially his young daughter, warns parents in a video statement that, "California law currently allows someone "other than a parent" to take a child, a girl as young as 12 years of age, to go and get an abortion without the parents knowing anything about this. This means that your neighbor, a teacher, an older boyfriend, a sexual predator -- can legally take your 12-year-old daughter to go and get an abortion, a secret, confidential abortion."

Like many parents, Warburton believes this is wrong. He wants to change the law to protect young girls and restore parents' rights. Warburton adds, "I can tell you as a father, who loves his daughter more than anything in the world, I will vote YES on 73 come Tuesday, November 8th. I hope that you do too."

Audio statements from Dr. Laura, and Laura Ingraham are available on the YES on 73 site: http://www.yeson73.net/

Isn't he the big guy who once dated Elaine in Seinfeld? The Christian guy who told Elaine that she'll go to hell...

He wasn't the voice of The Tick, he *was* the Tick in the short-lived live-action series. However, he does do a lot of other voice work. And he does it well, I'll add, because so many do it poorly (especially the big name celebrities).

I think Patrick Warburton was the live-action Tick, and not the voice of the Tick on the animated show. I could be wrong, though.

Patrick Warburton was the live-action Tick. Someone named Townsend Coleman was the voice in the cartoons.

Thank you for the alert. I remember Patricia Heaton being interviewed by O'Reilly. He asked her if she was concerned that she might be incurring the wrath of the Barbra Sreisands with her pro-life views. Her answer was great!!

"When I leave this earth, it won't be Barbra Streisand that I have to account to for my life choices"

Cool! Puddy's on board! (Patrick Walburton)

I'm betting even if he sometimes leaves a public role in the pro-life cause, he'll find himself backsliding back into it.... (Seinfeld reference)

You would think so. The right of a woman to murder her unborn children is the ONLY right that liberals hold as absolute. Think about it, 80% of the people support this law yet I guarantee you that the Democrat Party will oppose it. I also will bet that the state court will turn it over as "too burdensome" on the 12 year old girl to have to tell her parents and wait a whole two days to get an abortion.

PUDDY is prolife? Now I will watch those reruns of Seinfeld with an even bigger smile on my face than before. I've had a crush on Warburton for YEARS- he is 100% my type and now even more so! :)

"Yeah that's right."

"You know, support the team."

"I'm not the one going to Hell."

What does she have to do with Barbara Streisand? Were they on a show together or something?
